Job summary

Viridan Group in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to manage the financials for large utility-scale solar construction projects. The role requires direct solar/PV project accounting experience and collaboration with Project Management, Project Controls, Procurement and Corporate Accounting.

You will own the full accounting cycle, monitor budgets, perform WIP work, and support revenue recognition and forecasts.

Qualifications

• Direct solar/PV project accounting experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP and percentage of completion.
• Experience with budgets, forecasts, commitments, POs and change orders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full project accounting cycle for utility scale solar construction projects
• Monitor project budgets, actual costs, committed costs, forecasts, revenue, margins and profitability
• Prepare monthly WIP schedules, journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
• Support percentage of completion revenue recognition and estimates at completion
• Track purchase orders, subcontracts, invoices, change orders, progress billings and retainage
• Support project cash flow forecasting and collections
• Analyze cost variances, margin erosion and other financial risks
• Partner with Project Managers to strengthen project controls and improve financial performance

Senior Project Accountant – Utility-Scale Solar

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Viridan Group is partnering with an established, vertically integrated solar developer and EPC contractor to hire a Senior Project Accountant in Charlotte.

This position will manage project accounting and financial reporting across large solar construction projects, working closely with Project Management, Project Controls, Procurement and Corporate Accounting.

*Direct solar/PV project accounting experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full project accounting cycle for utility scale solar construction projects
• Monitor project budgets, actual costs, committed costs, forecasts, revenue, margins and profitability
• Prepare monthly WIP schedules, journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
• Support percentage of completion revenue recognition and estimates at completion
• Track purchase orders, subcontracts, invoices, change orders, progress billings and retainage
• Support project cash flow forecasting and collections

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project, construction or EPC accounting experience
• Direct project accounting experience within solar/PV is required
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP and percentage of completion accounting
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, commitments, purchase orders and change orders
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
