Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living at Grand Rapids is seeking a full-time Resident Program Assistant to support the Program Director in leading and executing Resident Programs in “Sweet Memories” and Assisted Living. You will help keep residents engaged, healthy, and socially active, while supporting the Resident Care team to foster a safe, holistic environment.

The role includes planning events, coordinating transportation and outings, and maintaining the monthly calendar with digital tools.

Qualifications

• Education or training in a health care field or certified as an activity professional (preferred).
• Experience with seniors and memory loss strongly preferred.
• Two years’ experience planning activities for seniors preferred.
• Knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with no major violations within 3 years.
• Working knowledge of technology.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Program Director with planning and preparing a variety of physical, social, recreational and educational events.
• Assist with transportation and resident outings.
• Assist in producing the community monthly calendar.
• Maintain documentation and resident attendance through digital programs.
• Maintain knowledge of communities, services, and events in the area and incorporate into activity schedule as appropriate.
• Establishes a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff.
• Promotes teamwork and positive attitude among associates.
• Continually evaluates the quality and consistency of activities for residents and suggests adjustments, corrections, and changes as necessary.
• Must have a clean driving record, and be eligible to be ensured on the company driving policy, and be able to operate a large passenger van safely.
• Other duties as assigned
