Job summary

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine seeks a Program Officer or Senior Program Officer to develop and manage programs and projects within the mathematical sciences. The role supports the CAST center and collaborates across disciplines to advance science and policy.

The position focuses on program development, sponsor engagement, and producing written materials for diverse audiences, with opportunities for leadership and independent project management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a field related to the mathematical sciences, or equivalent knowledge.
• Experience: 3 years of related experience for Program Officer level.
• Experience: 6 years of related professional experience for Senior Program Officer level, including supervisory work.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage programs, workshops, meetings, studies, and related activities within the mathematical sciences portfolio.
• Coordinate project objectives, work plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables; address issues affecting execution.
• Prepare background papers, technical summaries, reports, and other written products for technical and general audiences.
• Plan and execute workshops, meetings, roundtables, and other convening activities.
• Develop dissemination materials and engage stakeholders to share findings and outputs.
• Provide direction to project staff and contribute to sponsor engagement and new work development.
