Internews is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Program Officer to support the overall management of their Listening Post Collective (LPC) programs.

In this role, the Senior Program Officer will create and manage systems to oversee grants associated with LPC programming, track budgets and deliverables, write reports, and engage other Program Officer, Program Associate, and business management staff as needed. Additionally, you will manage and cultivate organisational and programmatic partnerships aligned with their mission, develop proposals in line with the Listening Post Collective’s strategic framework, and contribute to advancing their overall strategic framework and mission.

Responsibilities
  • Directly manage and coordinate active grants in the USP portfolio, including multiple subgrants and key contracts.
  • Provide strategic, operational, and representational assistance to ensure program activities meet their goals and targets; recommend adjustments as necessary to keep projects on track.
  • Work with the Business Manager for the Americas to oversee Listening Post Collective’s budget process, including monitoring, approving, and forecasting spending in accordance with program deliverables.
  • Manage donor reporting processes, including tracking deadlines, organising templates, and preparing or reviewing final reports.
  • Provide budget authority for grants, procurements, and other payments.
  • Manage administrative tasks in accordance with project timelines.
  • Coordinate with program staff and the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team to collect and report data, according to the project and organisational tracking and reporting systems as required by project agreements and LPC standards.
  • Create and implement a strategy for improved communications on program activities and accomplishments.
  • Streamline United States Programs team (USP) support in areas of program implementation, donor reporting, fundraising, and administration.
  • Support the development and implementation of annual strategy plans in close collaboration with LPC and Internews leadership.
  • Support the development and implementation of annual workplans for LPC-funded projects.
  • Lead proposals and funder reports; delegate and review contributions from other team members.
  • Engage with existing and potential donors on program calls.
  • Track and manage LPC organisational and programmatic partnerships that contribute to our mission, including creating and overseeing MOUs and other formal agreements.
  • Represent LPC and Internews at conferences, events, and with funders and policy experts as needed.
  • Assist with set-up for new projects, including staff recruitment as needed.
  • Supervise up to two Program Associates.

Required qualifications
  • University degree in relevant field of study OR equivalent lived/professional experience.
  • Minimum seven years relevant prior experience (advanced degree may substitute for up to three years of experience).
  • Native-level proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong technical proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong writing skills and proven text-editing proficiency; prior experience with proposals, budgets, reports, and/or training materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated diplomacy, tact, and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills; proven ability to communicate technical information to a general audience.
  • Superior analytical skills and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage dynamic workloads and shifting priorities effectively.
  • Proven ability to operate in a multicultural and remote work environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to accommodate periodic workload shifts and schedule changes.
Preferred qualifications
  • Prior experience working for a nonprofit or in journalism support field.
  • Proficiency in Spanish language (written and spoken).
  • Previous administrative, financial, and/or monitoring and evaluation experience with similar projects.
  • Previous experience with software programs/tools such as AirTable and Canva, or willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience managing privately funded programs highly desired.
