Job summary

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Eligible for Educational Leadership Certificate; GAPSC leadership test required.
• Valid certification in Special Education.
• Five (5) years of teaching experience.
• Proficient in technology.
• Proven ability to communicate with parents and staff.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, administrative work and special projects.
• Knowledge of laws and practices related to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates delivery of services to identified students.
• Implements procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Recommends and develops program budgets and grants.
• Assists the principal in school administration and acts as principal when needed.
• Assists teachers with organizing and preparing classrooms for effective learning.
• Provides programming support to special education staff.
• Completes assessments to determine program effectiveness and plans for improvement.
• Coordinates FTE and December 1 Count verification procedures.
• Develops procedures for managing special education data for trend analysis.
• Develops training materials for dissemination to schools, parents and community agencies.
• Coordinates and monitors psychological services at various sites.
• Uses program evaluation data to provide information.
• Assists in evaluating instruction and staff as requested.
• Collaborates with parents and faculty to advance educational objectives.
• Responds to emergencies to maintain safety.
• Performs other duties for organizational effectiveness.
