Work Location: Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Nashville, Tennessee; or Huntsville or Muscle Shoals, Alabama

The ideal candidate will possess advanced proficiency in Excel, demonstrate an extensive familiarity with database structures and queries, and, preferably, hold substantial expertise in the Copperleaf application C55. The position requires a keen aptitude for analyzing large and complex datasets to identify potential errors and validate test results, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and critical thinking. Moreover, the candidate must exhibit initiative, strong interpersonal abilities, and possess familiarity with project management.

Position Purpose

Leads the development and maintenance of enterprise investment portfolios, including both five-year and long-range capital plans. Responsibilities include investment request risk-based valuation, portfolio scenario modeling, peer reviews, coordinating work sessions, and overseeing asset management information. The position ensures alignment with enterprise priorities, governs portfolio tools, and advances process improvements in investment development and portfolio management, delivering innovative solutions and collaborating across the enterprise.

Job Dimensions

Supervisory Responsibility — In a lead role, directs actions and assigns work to support investment and portfolio development.

Budget Responsibility

— None directly or full time but will be expected to understand finance budget processes and how that impacts business unit portfolios related to risk and performance.

Principal Accountabilities

Specific duties include:

• Lead development of an integrated, structured, five‑year Enterprise level portfolio that supports risk discussions and aligns with enterprise priorities.
• Coordinate and facilitate business unit work sessions to develop investment requests, including problem statements, solution alternatives, justifications, and budget estimates.
• Apply rigorous, risk‑based valuation methodologies to ensure accurate and high-quality investments informing risk and funding discussions.
• Conduct business unit level scenario modeling and portfolio optimization, ensuring consistency with spend ranges, and performing quality assurance and control of scenario outputs.
• Lead peer review and challenge sessions to shape and refine an optimized enterprise investment portfolio for leadership endorsement.
• Provide governance and oversight of required information (provided by business unit asset management) required for development of long-range capital investment plans.
• Develop and maintain enterprise long-range capital investment plans (10+ years) that meet or exceed performance goals while ensuring safety, efficiency, compliance, and reliability aligning with enterprise priorities.
• Provide oversight and interface support for enterprise portfolio management tools, including Copperleaf C55, ensuring accurate inputs and effective decision support.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, plant/business unit management, engineering, finance, project execution, business planning, IT, and strategy teams to ensure alignment and integration across the enterprise.
• Advance programmatic direction, goals, and process improvements in portfolio and investment management to drive performance excellence and continuous improvement.
• Exercise sound judgment to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions to long-range enterprise performance needs; ability to serve as an individual contributor or team leader depending on workload and organizational priorities.

Minimum Requirements

Education

— B.S. degree in engineering, finance, engineering technology, math, physics, chemistry, or related science, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Experience

— Seven years’ experience in the electric power industry requiring a comprehensive knowledge of power plant or transmission engineering, programs, regulatory compliance, and operations and maintenance or experience in other TVA business areas where investments/projects directly impact performance, such as Information Technology or Facilities. Experience with Copperleaf C55 is desirable.

Certification/License, etc

- A license as a professional engineer, Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Asset Manager are desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

— Ability to identify options and deliver prioritized, risk‑based solutions. Strong knowledge of power plant design and other TVA investment‑related business areas. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage conflict effectively. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other TVA organizations

Demonstrated capability across utility generation activities and other TVA investment‑focused business areas. Proven ability to interpret broad policy direction, provide program leadership, strengthen enterprise performance, and communicate clearly with individuals and groups. Candidates may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position access and essential job functions. Must be able and willing to travel across the valley to support development of work product.
