Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join the Global Tax PMO. You will lead cross-functional programs, coordinating Finance, Tax, Accounting, and Technology teams to deliver complex initiatives over multi-year horizons.

The role requires deep experience in at least two of Finance, Program Management or Technology, with strong business, technical, and stakeholder-management skills. You will drive decisions, manage risk, and communicate progress to senior leadership.

Our program management team leads the charge and partners with teams across Amazon to plan, coordinate, and implement mission critical projects resulting from operating a global business in a time of unprecedented change.

Our program management team leads the charge and partners with teams across Amazon to plan, coordinate, and implement mission critical projects resulting from operating a global business in a time of unprecedented change. We are looking for a Senior PM to join this amazing team. Successful candidates will have deep experience in at least two of the following three disciplines – Finance, Program Management and Technology – and can become well versed in all three in order to bridge across our diverse group of stakeholders. The candidate needs to be able to easily understand the business line, technical and finance/accounting/tax disciplines, and the impacts of each on the project. They also need to be able to support communications in these areas with current process owners and project stakeholders.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated an exceptional bias for action and comfort driving forward despite ambiguity. A typical project in our portfolio takes over 2 years to deliver, requires work across more than 15 functional teams and requires modification to more than 25 systems. As such, the candidate will often be required to dive deep to remove roadblocks, and carefully manage scope to deliver results on large scale and complex projects while still earning trust across many functions and stakeholders with executive level visibility and sponsorship.

Key job responsibilities

• Managing work streams and/or projects from initiation through planning, execution, and closeout.
• Taking the lead role with project owners, sponsors and subject matter experts to align on project and workstream objectives.
• Communicating the overall program roadmap and periodic status updates to executive stakeholder body including Amazon Businesses, Tax, Accounting, Treasury, HR, Legal, Finance Operations and related technical teams.
• Synthesizing requirements coming from many functions and demonstrating a solid working knowledge of requirements to project stakeholders and sponsors.
• Proactively leveraging AI tools and automation to drive operational efficiency, accelerate delivery timelines, and free up capacity for higher-value strategic work across the team.
• Supporting the development and implementation of enterprise wide program management tools and standards to support program management core competencies within the team, and within broader Finance.
• Influence resource allocation, team priorities, and technology decisions by building data-driven business cases for Directors and VPs; negotiate trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term scalability.
• Build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups with competing priorities; lead the resolution of contentious cross-organizational issues and proactively mitigate risks before they become roadblocks.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of program or project management experience
• Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
• Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
• Knowledge of general AI tools

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
• Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
