Job summary

Washington Conservation Action in Seattle seeks a Sr. Program Manager to lead ecological and community resilience to wildfire, promoting good fire, Indigenous stewardship, and science-based forest health treatments.

The role collaborates with external coalitions, DNR, and Tribal governments to advance policy and funding priorities. The position emphasizes coalition work, program leadership, and travel across Washington.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environment, or related field or at least 5–8 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of forestry issues including forest management, forest certification, and natural climate solutions.
  • Professional or lived wildfire-related experience (e.g., prescribed burning, Indigenous fire stewardship, emergency response).
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in coalitions.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for restoration of beneficial fire and Indigenous fire stewardship.
  • Build sociopolitical support for beneficial fire and advocate for state funding on prescribed fire.
  • Collaborate with tribes and state agencies; coordinate Tribal fire strategy.
  • Promote community wildfire resilience and coordinate across coalitions and counties.
  • Monitor and influence forest health programs and funding; partner with DNR.
