BD is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead cross-functional teams in Innovation and NPD within the AAD platform of the MDS Business Group. This role emphasizes on-site collaboration, strong program leadership, and navigating medical device development dynamics.

The candidate should hold a BS in an engineering field and bring 10+ years in product development/design, with 3–5 years in medical devices, plus at least 5 years of project management experience. PMP preferred.

  • Deliver projects on-time through transparent execution.
  • Act as an agile problem solver and senior project leadership figure.
  • Influence solutions and resolve business and technical challenges at all levels.
  • Communicate strategic and technical directions clearly to project teams.
  • Identify new avenues for excellence and drive action without prompting.
  • Understand business drivers and support business case development.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • This high visibility position will be responsible for leading and motivating a cross functional team to drive a high visibility Innovation and NPD efforts in the AAD platform within the Business Group of MDS.
  • Complete understanding of a wide application of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Including but not limited, customer scope requirements, work breakdown structures, risk management, integrated business plans, and product requirements.
  • Delivers projects on-time through predictable and transparent execution.
  • Serving as an agile problem solver, master negotiator, motivational coach, product development process expert, prudent risk taker, and team champion.
  • Influences solutions and works to resolve business and/or technical problems at all levels of the organization.
  • A strong, influential communicator who implements the strategic and technical direction for the project/program team.
  • Finds and creates new avenues of excellence.
  • Self-starting and will take action without prompting or direction from others to solve problems.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of business, market growth drivers and trends, influences business case development.
  • Leads cross functional teams through project(s) of medium scale and moderate complexity by leading cross functional teams individually or with an additional project leader.
  • Has a thorough understanding of all functional work streams in a phase gate process and a vision of an integrated project plan.
Position requirements
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related engineering degree is required.
  • At least 10 years relevant experience in product development and design, with at least 3-5 years product development and design experience in medical devices/products (Class II).
  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience.
  • Experience driving remediation and/or sustaining engineering projects
Position Preferences
  • An advanced degree in an engineering discipline or MBA is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified
  • Familiarity of Advanced access devices
Critical Skills and Competencies
  • Successful track record of commercializing new products and/or remediating critical products in the market
  • Experience in product development planning multiple work-streams, identifying risk and implementing action plans to optimize timelines and reduce execution risk
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and FDA submissions
