Job summary

The Weather Company is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Consumer Data to guide data instrumentation supporting reporting, analytics, and ML use cases across its digital ecosystem. You will lead data quality initiatives, ensuring integrity, accessibility, and collaboration with front-end teams to deploy robust tracking solutions.

Ideal candidates have strong SQL and experience with analytics tools, cloud data lakes, and cross-functional leadership in Agile environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, software engineering or related technical roles.
  • 3+ years of experience managing consumer data from digital applications and websites.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLServer) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) databases.
  • Knowledge of CDPs and consumer data collection methods (SDKs, cookies, pixels, APIs).
  • Experience with event tracking frameworks and integrating tracking across partners.
  • Understanding of web/mobile analytics tools (Amplitude, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Mixpanel).
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations and impact on data collection.
  • Experience with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation platforms.
  • Experience with cloud-based data lake solutions (AWS S3/Glue/Athena, Azure Data Lake, Google BigQuery).
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and cross-functional projects.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Project management experience with multiple initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and content stakeholders to translate analytics requirements into technical specs.
  • Define data plans, tracking requirements, and specifications for downstream consumer behavior analytics with enterprise data architects.
  • Partner with front-end developers to implement comprehensive event tracking systems.
  • Review and approve tracking implementations for data consistency and accuracy.
  • Guide data quality analysts to investigate and resolve data issues across systems.
  • Work with data scientists, BI engineers, and analytics teams to ensure data accessibility and usability.
  • Establish and maintain data quality standards and governance for consumer data.
  • Design and implement data validation processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of behavioral data.
  • Develop automated data quality checks and dashboards to monitor data health.
  • Establish best practices for data instrumentation across web and mobile apps.
  • Lead design and implementation of consumer data collection frameworks.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data infrastructure and processes.
  • Ensure data lineage documentation and metadata management.

Job brief:

As a Technical Program Manager for Consumer Data at the Weather Company, you will guide the instrumentation of consumer data collection that supports reporting, analytics, and machine learning use cases. You will lead our consumer data quality initiatives across our digital ecosystem, responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of consumer data collected from our applications and websites. You will also bridge the gap between business analytics needs & technical data infrastructure while collaborating closely with front-end development teams to implement robust data tracking solutions.



The impact you\'ll make:


  • Collaborate with stakeholders, such as product, marketing, and content managers, to understand business analytics requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

  • Work with enterprise data architect to define data plans, tracking requirements, and specifications for downstream consumer behavior analytics.

  • Partner with front-end application developers to implement comprehensive event tracking systems.

  • Review and approve tracking implementation to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

  • Guide data quality analysts to investigate potential or existing data issues. Work cross-functionally to resolve them.

  • Work with data scientists, data and BI engineers, business analytics teams to ensure data accessibility and usability.

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive data quality standards and governance frameworks for consumer data.

  • Design and implement data validation processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of consumer behavioral data.

  • Develop automated data quality checks and alerting systems, such as data quality dashboards.

  • Establish best practices for data instrumentation across web and mobile applications.

  • Lead the design and implementation of consumer data collection frameworks.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for data infrastructure and processes.

What you\'ve accomplished:
