Macy's Inc. Senior Program Managers effectively deliver business results by championing a culture of accountability and consistent project & program management practices. We are facilitators and motivators, working across departments and offices to ensure collaboration, communication, visibility, and successful delivery of large cross‑functional programs across Macys.com, Bloomingdales.com and their associated mobile apps. We need a Senior Program Manager to help guide and deliver value to our Product, Engineering, Design and Analytics teams.
Essential Functions
- Direct experience in Consulting and Marketing Technology is a plus
- Experience with multiple Adobe solution implementations such as Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), Adobe Target, Customer Journey Analytics (CJA)
- Oversee and be accountable for a portfolio of work that furthers strategic company objectives in partnership with product management organization
- Work with digital strategy & operations and director level sponsors to support the definition, design, and rollout of new programs or strategic initiatives
- Understand the company and sponsor's objectives. Advise on the necessary programs to achieve success and provide value
- Negotiate resources and work timelines to ensure on‑time completion and deliver desired business results
- Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and work with the team to balance the business needs versus technical constraints
- Communicate status, risks, and changes of program milestones
- Facilitate increasingly effective Requirements, Planning and Release Alignment sessions. Engaging product partners effectively and tactfully where necessary to drive efficiency and strong outcomes
- Identify areas with gaps to outline, support and enforce organizational change management practices
- Understand the relationships and impacts of programs and initiatives across business units identifying dependencies between teams and programs
- Provide recommendations on complex program dependencies that could affect the success of other initiatives and work with the team to proactively manage and resolve dependency conflicts
- Surface opportunities to improve team processes, simplifying complex approaches to enhance collaboration and make recommendations for solutions
- Facilitate program reviews with stakeholders and senior leadership to drive alignment and specific outcomes
- Collaborate with product team on stakeholder facing metrics, executive summaries and presentations, and reporting
- Plan and manage special ad hoc projects utilizing project management best practices
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree from a 4‑year college or university
- We encourage candidates with either a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply
- 5+ years direct experience
- Highly adaptable in a fast‑paced environment; able to thrive within ambiguity
- You have worked closely with software engineers, QA, product managers and other engineering teams to get high‑quality products and features through the software project lifecycle
- Experience with multiple delivery methodologies (e.g., Lean, Agile/Scrum)
- Can lead and conduct training sessions to evangelize best practices and onboard new team members across the organization to align with the Digital Operating Model
- You have experience influencing senior management and setting expectations for major cross‑functional initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong organizational skills and deep understanding of Project Management concepts for planning, monitoring, and reporting
- Experience balancing multiple tasks and deadlines
- You are decisive – you gather the data and make informed, critical decisions quickly
- You are outcome driven with a proven track record for achieving results that drive the company and the teams you work with towards successful results
- You naturally exude team building, motivating, and conflict‑resolving qualities
- You are able to work independently with little to no supervision
- Serve as an advisor and mentor to the more junior members on the team
- Experience working with remote teams
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and relationship building skills adjusting communication styles to suit different audiences and levels of seniority
- Thrives in a matrixed environment and applies an entrepreneurial owner mentality to cultivate a culture of innovation and speed to market across teams
