AMS Staffing Inc. is assisting an international AmLaw 100 firm in New York City to hire a Senior Professional Development Manager.

The role supports the Litigation practice by developing substantive training and curriculum for junior and mid-level associates, with a hybrid schedule (4 days onsite, 1 remote) and a salary range of $180K–$240K plus bonus. You will partner with Partners and Counsel to identify skills gaps, design AI-focused training, mentor staff, and collaborate with Talent

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required with 3+ years of litigation practice at a large law firm.
• Experience in training and development management is a plus.
• Strong understanding of litigation practice and skill development at varying seniority levels.
• Interest in AI applications to legal training and practice.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, enhance, and build out substantive training curricula across Litigation groups.
• Partner with Litigation Partners and Counsel to identify gaps and translate into training programs.
• Help build AI-focused training addressing core litigation skills and tasks.
• Manage and mentor junior team members and oversee day-to-day training logistics.
• Evaluate and refine programs based on feedback from associates and partners.
• Support lateral associate integration and growth within Litigation.
• Collaborate with Talent Management, Inclusion, Business Development, Pro Bono, IT/AV, and Events teams.

Job Description:

Our client, an international AmLaw 100 firm, is looking to hire a Senior Professional Development Manager at their offices in New York City. The position will allow for a hybrid work schedule with 4 days a week onsite, 1 remote, and will pay an annual base salary of $180K to $240K plus a performance-based bonus and comprehensive benefits package.

The Senior Professional Development Manager will lead the development of substantive training for the firm’s Litigation practice groups, building curriculum for both junior associates and mid-level associates deepening their substantive expertise.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, enhance, and build out substantive training curriculum across the Litigation practice groups, tailored to associates at all levels.
• Partner with Litigation Partners and Counsel to identify skill/knowledge gaps and translate them into new or enhanced training programs.
• Help build out AI-focused training addressing core litigation skills and practice-group-specific tasks.
• Manage and mentor junior team members, overseeing day-to-day execution of training programs and logistics.
• Evaluate and refine existing programs based on associate and partner feedback.
• Support lateral associate integration and growth from junior to senior levels within Litigation.
• Collaborate with Legal Talent Management, Inclusion, Business Development, Pro Bono, IT/AV, and Events teams to deliver polished, effective programming.
• Partner with the Director on department-wide initiatives, including New Associate Orientation and summer associate training.
• Provide supplemental professional development support to Real Estate, Tax, and Executive Compensation groups, as necessary.

Required Skills

• J.D. degree with 3+ years of Litigation practice experience at a large law firm
• 2+ years of management experience in training and development, knowledge management or practice resources a plus.
• Deep understanding of litigation practice and associate skill development at varying levels of seniority.
• Strong interest in and familiarity with AI tools as applied to legal training and practice.
• Prior management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to build credibility and work effectively with Partners, Counsel, and associates at all levels.
• Collaborative, client-service-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and lead a team.
