Job summary

TAPCO in Wisconsin is seeking a Production Lead II to guide staff, optimize daily and weekly production, and drive improvements in performance and safety. Scheduled Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm, the role supports TAPCO's gainsharing metrics and daily operations to meet demand.

The ideal candidate will lead with coaching, apply lean/5S practices, and leverage ERP and MS Office to track progress, improve efficiency, and foster a strong team culture focused on quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years production lead experience.
  • 1-3 years production scheduling and planning.
  • Minimum of 2 years lean manufacturing / 5S experience.
  • Troubleshooting electronic control systems experience.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office, Outlook, ERP system.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow.
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing methods.
  • Prioritize and delegate workload.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily direction and leadership to Production team members.
  • Monitor productivity, study procedures, and optimize workflows.
  • Escalation path for work cell teams and communicate with Production Supervisor.
  • Participate in hiring and corrective actions.
  • Monitor safety, quality and delivery goals for work cells.
  • Create a positive culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee staff daily performance and implement procedures.
  • Promote safe work environment and compliance with policies.
  • Coordinate priorities with Production leadership.
  • Perform 5S, quality, safety and production audits.

What you will accomplish as a Production Lead II at TAPCO

The Production Lead II is responsible for leading and ensuring staff members are working effectively and efficiently. This position utilizes the space and equipment available to keep up with daily/weekly production demands. In addition, this position will be performing high level projects or tasks and front-line leadership and monitoring of assigned areas providing immediate support to production staff. This role requires flexibility to adapt quickly to change and a desire for growth. This position plays a key role in TAPCO’s prime metrics that feed directly into the companywide gainsharing program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides daily direction and leadership to the Production team members; makes recommendations for labor needs in assigned areas.
  • Monitor team’s productivity; identifies work procedures; prepare work schedules and expedites workflow; study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
  • Provides escalation path for work cell teams and communicates daily with Production Supervisor
  • Participates in department hiring and corrective action processes
  • Monitor productivity, safety, quality and delivery goals of assigned work cells
  • Creates and manages a positive team culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the staff’s daily performance
  • Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement within the department and the company
  • Promotes a safe work environment and ensures that all employees are following safety rules and regulations
  • Coordinates priorities with Production leadership
  • Follows and enforces all 5S and safety policies
  • Conducts regular 5S, quality, safety and production audits.
  • Shares and supports ideas for improvement in group meetings
Required Experience and Knowledge/ Skills/ Ability
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 - 3 years production lead experience
  • 1 - 3 years of production daily/weekly scheduling and planning
  • Minimum of 2 years lean manufacturing / 5S experience
  • Prior experience troubleshooting electronic control systems
  • Strong computer skills - business application, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, an advanced ERP system
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow
  • Communication skills: speak, read, write, and interpret English instructions
  • Add, subtract, divide, and multiply all units of measure
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing methods
  • Computer knowledge, including MS Office Suite and ERP System
  • Prioritize and delegate workload
