Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow team members through performance management and training.
  • Monitor labor hours, track targets, and drive productivity improvements.
  • Verify shop orders and BOM accuracy before release.
  • Ensure all drawings and schematics are reviewed and released.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to address schedule risks.
  • Monitor capacity and adjust with Production Manager.
  • Ensure ERP (IFS) transactions align with production consumption.
  • Report KPIs from tier board meetings on health of department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to foster accountability.
  • Approve attendance and clockings in IFS.
  • Delegate and retrain for timecard errors.
  • Coordinate with HR to resolve issues.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills)
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct supervisory experience in production operations, preferably involving the assembly of electrical switchgear or power generation systems.
  • Proven experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles to drive efficiency, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP systems within a manufacturing setting; experience with IFS or SAP strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical documentation, including schematics, assembly drawings, manufacturing instructions, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Skilled in performance analysis and reporting, with the ability to identify and communicate variances in safety, delivery, cost, and quality against operational goals.
  • Proficient in leading root cause analysis events and mentoring team members to develop their problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to develop, coach, and mentor team leaders to strengthen leadership capabilities and enhance company culture.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Effectively communicate and delegate on-time, quality, safety, and improvement initiatives to team leaders.
  • Deep understanding of production processes with the ability to analyze their impact on business objectives, driving operational excellence through quality, cost efficiency, and strategic priorities.
  • Interface with engineering to ensure design questions or clarifications are answered quickly and clearly to minimize production delays.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments, ensuring alignment between production, engineering, quality, and supply chain functions.
  • Experienced in Lean Manufacturing with hands‑on application of standard work, visual management, and continuous improvement, including the creation, implementation, and development of new processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Experienced with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or IFS.
  • Experience in the manufacturing of electrical switchgear and/or electrical power generation equipment is highly preferred.
  • Provide direct leadership and day‑to‑day oversight / support for a diverse team of 20 to 80 production employees, including supervisors, team leaders and technicians.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Leads the development and growth of team members by independently managing performance, facilitating career advancement, and implementing development plans aligned with both individual potential and organizational objectives, while collaborating with HR as needed to support training and talent initiatives.
  • Monitors labor hour allocations across jobs, tracks performance against targets, and analyzes trends to identify variances and drive productivity improvements.
  • Verifies upcoming projects and associated shop orders prior to release by confirming accurate assembly start and finish dates, assigned labor hours, and correctness of the bill of materials (BOM). Identifies and escalates discrepancies to Production Control to ensure timely resolution before assembly begins.
  • Ensure that all assembly drawings and schematics are complete, reviewed, and released to manufacturing prior to assembly start.
  • Monitors for potential risks to schedule and collaborates with the Project Management team to address and resolve issues early, ensuring departmental goals are maintained.
  • Monitors departmental capacity against production demand and works with the Production Manager to address any discrepancies found in the project schedule.
  • Ensures team members execute accurate ERP (IFS) transactions that align with physical production consumption. Identifies and corrects discrepancies, and provides retraining as needed to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Collects and analyzes key performance indicators from team leaders during tier board meetings to accurately report on departmental and operational health.
  • Works closely with other departments to build effective partnerships while driving a culture of healthy accountability, encouraging continuous growth and professional development among peers and team members.
  • Approves attendance and manufacturing clockings in IFS before deadlines.
  • Delegates correction of timecard errors to team leaders and provides retraining to employees or team leaders if errors persist.
  • Identifies situations requiring corrective action in areas such as disciplinary compliance, process adherence, and retraining needs.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Production Manager and HR to evaluate the issue and implement appropriate resolutions in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of team‑produced products to verify adherence to engineering specifications, facilitates training to uphold quality standards, oversees regular process audits, and ensures the department consistently achieves its quality targets.
  • Collaborates with the Project Management team to establish monthly departmental revenue targets and proactively reports any risks that may jeopardize the achievement of these goals.
Working Conditions
  • This position is on‑site 5 days per week.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate different business needs.
