Job summary

Leprino Foods in Roswell, NM is seeking a senior supervisor to lead the whey department, overseeing multiple teams to ensure product quality, safety, and efficient production across operations.

You will plan daily staffing, mentor Supervisors, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating with maintenance, quality, and plant leadership to minimize downtime and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, or a related field—or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in food manufacturing, with at least 1 year of progressive supervisory or people leadership experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of whey manufacturing processes and equipment operations.
  • Strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn systems such as SAP or other manufacturing software.
  • Able to work weekends, swing, and overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support multiple Supervisors and their teams within our Whey Department, ensuring consistent product quality, employee safety, and efficient production across multiple operations.
  • Plan and coordinate daily staffing across multiple teams to maximize labor efficiency and meet production goals.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop Supervisors through coaching, feedback, leadership development, and ongoing technical and safety training.
  • Build a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability by communicating clearly, developing frontline leaders, and recognizing performance that makes a difference.
  • Oversee daily production operations through Supervisors to meet or exceed established standards for productivity, yield, and product quality.
  • Partner with maintenance, quality, and other plant leaders to identify equipment needs, prioritize repairs, and minimize production downtime.
  • Reinforce company policies consistently and fairly while driving employee engagement and leadership effectiveness across multiple teams.
  • Lead department quality systems and sanitation execution to ensure food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Champion safe work practices by ensuring Supervisors provide employees with the training, equipment, and resources needed to perform their jobs safely.
  • Monitor departmental operational and financial performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support budget objectives.

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):
  • A bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, or a related field—or equivalent work experience.

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Experience in dairy or cheese manufacturing.
  • Experience leading multiple production teams or supervising other Supervisors in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical understanding of whey production systems and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation practices that ensure food safety excellence.
  • Demonstrated success developing frontline leaders and improving operational performance.
