Job summary

Gerdau in Petersburg, VA is seeking a Production Scheduler to optimize the manufacturing schedule across Melt Shop, Rolling Mill, and offline operations. You will generate production orders, manage inventories, and coordinate with Logistics, Sales, and Production to balance customer service and cost.

The role requires 2–3 years of plant operations experience, strong SAP/QMOS skills, and a collaborative, proactive approach. Occasional on-call and after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in plant operations or equivalent required.
• APICS module: BSCM preferred.
• Experience in activities related to production planning.
• Maintain a high level of communication with all stakeholders.
• Ability to respond timely to requests and inquiries as needed.
• PC-proficient with software programs including data-based programs, Word, Excel, etc.
• Proficient use of SAP & QMOS systems. SAP-ECC and production scheduling preferred.
• Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform and prioritize a variety of analytical tasks with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Execute internal plant scheduling processes for Melt Shop, Rolling Mill, Offline Saw.
• Generate and manage production orders through life cycle.
• Coordinate billet yard storage and optimize inventory.
• Manage rolling mill production schedules and MES/ERP orders.
• Coordinate offline production scheduling with Sales and logistics.
• Maintain on-time, full fulfillment per S&OP guidelines.
• Provide updates on production milestones and reconcile finished goods.
