Senior Production Operator (3rd Shift)
The Senior Production Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machinery to combine dry and/or liquid chemicals into finished customer products. This role ensures product quality, meets customer specifications, and supports safe, efficient production in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up, start, and operate blending and/or extrusion equipment following established procedures.
- Verify machine controls/settings to ensure adherence to mixing/blending or extruding procedures.
- Weigh and add ingredients per recipe specifications; ensure correct materials are staged and used.
- Monitor production and equipment for safe, efficient operation; troubleshoot equipment/process issues.
- Operate machinery to mix or extrude ingredients according to operating procedures.
- Visually/physically examine materials to confirm conformance to standards.
- Collect samples for Quality Control testing as needed; follow lab direction to adjust batches to specification.
- Label finished product and complete end-of-shift documentation.
- Perform required machine cleaning and maintain housekeeping standards.
- Complete and maintain required system transactions and production documentation (including SAP activity, where applicable).
- Support training of new team members and retraining as needed.
- Follow ISO and Environmental Health & Safety rules and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Manufacturing experience: 3+ years (plastics, mixing, blending, extrusion, industrial operations).
- Comfort working in a production environment with strict safety/quality expectations.
- Ability to follow written procedures and complete documentation accurately.
- Forklift operator license/experience is listed as a desired skill in the job requirements.
Physical & Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching/crawling; frequent use of hands.
- Frequently lift/move up to 55 lbs; occasionally handle up to 250 lbs (with appropriate equipment/process).
- PPE may include safety glasses/shoes, respirator, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, face shield, etc. (as required by area).
- Exposure may include wet/humid conditions, dust/fumes/airborne particles, vibration, moving mechanical parts, and occasional exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals.
