Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking an experienced Senior Production Engineering (PE) Manager – Production to join our team at the Boeing Guidance Repair Center (BGRC), located in Heath, OH.

This position will be responsible for managing employees and managers of an integrated multi-disciplined production and support team focused on sustaining a Center of Excellence for design & development, transition to Rate Production, and Guidance System Repair. The leader must have strong experience in building cross-functional relationships, defining and aligning priorities, and driving outcomes for execution. The role requires performance in leading through complexity, simplifying objectives, strategic problem-solving, and effective communication at the executive level, including metrics and recovery plans. Skills in mediating conflicts, balancing priorities, and fostering cooperation are essential.

This role reports directly to the SI&WS Senior Director and Capability Leader for Production Engineering, Test, and Launch, with indirect program relationships aligned to Guidance Repair Center priorities. It also serves as the chief engineer liaison for the Heath, OH site, with dotted line reporting to the SDS Chief Engineer.

The role will focus on executing site programs such as:

  • Maintaining and repairing Mission Guidance Systems
  • Rate production of the Navigator for Ohio Class Submarine
  • Sustaining and producing Electronics Support Measures
  • Repairing and manufacturing Radar antennas
  • Gyroscope repair and electrical subsystem repair for aircraft
  • Assembly, integration, and testing for Minuteman ICBM
  • Production of aircraft nozzle and electronics assemblies

Additional responsibilities include design, development, and transition to production efforts for Space Inertial Measurement Units, overhaul activities for test equipment, and transition to new technology and service life extension programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead production engineering and support, ensuring quality, safety, cost, and delivery objectives are met, with metrics and performance management.
  • Drive PE Functional Excellence, oversee technical approaches, and ensure process and design compliance.
  • Develop and execute cross-program improvement initiatives for affordability, quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Proactively adopt new technologies and tools aligned with BDS standards.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels, adjusting messaging as needed.
  • Bring innovative solutions to engineering challenges, aligning with program priorities.
  • Lead start-up activities, gate reviews, proposals, and future factory planning.
  • Manage workforce talent, including skill gap identification and cross-functional staffing.
  • Develop employees through recognition, technical fellowships, and leadership opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with site and functional teams to ensure efficient value streams.
  • Exchange best practices with other production engineering managers and participate in leadership meetings.
  • Prioritize employee development, foster an inclusive culture, and ensure a psychologically safe work environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years managing teams in maintenance, manufacturing, or production systems.
  • 5+ years in Production Engineering, Structures Design, or Analytical Engineering.
  • Experience managing people, programs, and budgets.
  • Ability to lead large or complex teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams of over 50 people.
  • Management experience with direct reports of other managers.
  • Experience in DoD production or refurbishment efforts.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of Boeing’s production systems and engineering best practices.
  • Advanced degrees and certifications are a plus.

  • Total Rewards & Pay Transparency: $178,500 - $241,500, with benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and more.
