Senior Production Editor – Spanish speaking (remote) - News Corp

HarperCollins is currently seeking a Senior Production Editor fluent in Spanish to handle titles for the HarperOne Group, including HarperEspanol!

_The HarperOne Group acquires books that represent a broad and diverse collection of voices, cultures, and perspectives and shares a commitment to publishing books that matter, enlighten, and entertain._

**Responsibilities**

+ Handles the production editorial process from manuscript to bound book/epub for a variety of genres and formats, including Spanish-language titles.

+ Assesses and styles manuscripts using proprietary Microsoft Word and Harper’s proprietary software, for copyediting, design, and composition.

+ Hires freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers, and oversees their work.

+ Collates and processes proofreads and slugs in Adobe Acrobat, and checks all stages of proofs and PDFs, for interiors.

+ Copyedits flap and back cover copy, and proofreads and checks all stages of jacket/cover proofs.

+ Works with editors, designers, authors, managing editors, and production managers in anticipating and resolving problems.

+ Evaluate and coordinate artwork as needed.

+ Shepherds multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality control and meeting strict deadlines, often under tight production schedules.

+ Marks up pdfs for audio recordings.

+ Attends and contributes to online department and house meetings as needed, working with colleagues from other imprints to continue streamlining and aligning processes.

+ Provides backup for department as needed.

**Qualifications**

+ A minimum of 3+ years of prior production editorial work experience. Prior experience in trade book publishing preferred

+ Works comfortably with basic computer programs,including Tracked Changes in Word and the commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat

+ Solid copyediting and proofreading skills; knowledge of industry standards, including the _Chicago Manual of Style_

+ Total fluency (writing/speaking/reading) in Spanish and English, including familiarity with Real Academia Española (RAE)’s style guide, particularly its post-2010 reform/revision

+ Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail

+ Ability to set priorities under pressure

+ Comfortable working within a digital workflow system

+ Clear, conscientious, and collaborative communication skills, both verbal and written

+ College degree or equivalent work experience

The salary for this position is $65,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
