Job summary

ChampionX, now part of SLB, seeks a Senior Chemist to apply advanced chemical expertise in production chemistry, design and run laboratory tests, and analyze complex data. You will mentor junior chemists, guide technical workstreams, and promote safety, quality, and efficiency in a small team.

This role focuses on high-volume analytical work, with strong communication to customers and colleagues, and leadership development within a collaborative laboratory culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field with at least 5 years of US Land oilfield production chemistry experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting production chemistry programs for U.S. land-based oil and gas operations.
• Experience operating high volumes of routine analytical testing with quality, accuracy, and turnaround time.
• Follow SOPs, work independently, prioritize competing demands, and manage moderately complex projects.
• Experience operating/instrumentation: ICP-OES, IC, GC, XRF or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute routine and non-routine analytical testing activities for customer programs and field operations.
• Apply advanced production chemistry knowledge to troubleshoot, validate methods, and interpret data.
• Design, conduct, and interpret laboratory analyses tied to real-world performance.
• Independently manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder communications.
• Operate, maintain, and optimize laboratory instrumentation while ensuring QA/QC standards.
• Mentor, train, and develop chemists, technicians, and technologists.
