Job summary

Loft Orbital seeks a Senior Product Systems Engineer to define the architecture of Loft's space infrastructure and platform, coordinating across ground, space, software, and hardware. You will shape interfaces, requirements, and orchestration for multi-mission deployments while working with engineering, product, and operations teams across sites.

Qualifications

• Strong systems engineering background across software and hardware domains.
• Experience defining architecture, structuring requirements, and guiding engineering teams.
• Ability to decompose complex systems into clear capabilities, interfaces, and responsibilities.
• Understanding of software-heavy systems, distributed components, APIs, and processing chains.
• Ability to coordinate work across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Excellent written and spoken communication and documentation skills.
• Sound engineering judgment on rigor, abstraction, and specification for a growing org.

Responsibilities

• Define Loft's offering architecture across ground and space.
• Allocate capabilities across hardware, software, ground, flight, and external components.
• Ensure a coherent ground processing chain within the offering.
• Shape ground software tools and interfaces as main customer entry point.
• Clarify interaction between software stacks and Loft components and customers.
• Define, organize, and maintain requirements, interfaces, and architectural boundaries.
• Coordinate architecture discussions and align product intent with system architecture.
• Contribute to CONOPS, ICDs, architecture notes, and trade studies.
• Make solutions reusable, scalable, and understandable across missions.
• Support architecture reviews and cross-cutting technical decisions.
