Senior Product Specialist (REMOTE) – 250008N. Construction Specialties, Inc. (CS) is a specialty building products manufacturer founded in 1948. Scope of Position

The Senior Product Specialist is the product expert, coach and strategist connecting multiple products to their markets through the sales channels. This role requires close interaction with customers, decision-makers, marketing communications and the representative (sales) network to drive business growth and profitability, with a high level of independence in developing and executing strategies. Duties include translating knowledge from research, training and relationships into positioning for CS products in our markets. Success is measured by bookings volume, profitability and market share metrics.

  • Expert in the full range of products and sales processes within a business unit.
  • Serve as leader and subject matter expert for CS products, services and strategies, and for competitors to attract new and retain existing customers.
  • Set high-level strategy in collaboration with representatives on selling and pricing to yield superior profitability and customer experience.
  • Consider marketing mix elements (price, product, distribution, promotion and relationships) to contribute to development and execution of strategies for broad and specific markets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to overcome obstacles with key projects, customers and accounts to assist representatives in closing business.
  • When appropriate, work directly with stakeholders, Architects/Designers, General Contractors, Sub-contractors and owners.
  • Develop exceptional relationships with key people at targeted firms.
  • Independently plan and execute travel arrangements and collect/utilize market intelligence.
  • Answer inquiries from customers, sales reps and architects concerning price, application of products, technical information and commissions/overages as applicable.
  • Address sales support issues and resolve pre-sales problems quickly; conduct record research, policy interpretation and adjustments as needed.
  • Contribute to planning and implementation of sales enablement tools and marketing communications programs aligned with customer buying processes.
  • Provide feedback to Sr. BDM or Director on effectiveness of strategies and tools; lead development of solutions if improvement is needed.
  • Provide product expertise and contribute to strategic direction to set and execute marketing goals and objectives.
  • Provide market insights to assist strategic marketers and leadership in identifying opportunities for new products, services and markets.
  • Offer market insights on product improvements or discontinuations to the current product mix.
  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows and seminars to build relationships and stay informed on market trends.
  • Maintain two-way communications with representatives and customers to gather market intelligence on project and quote statuses.
  • Maintain regular contact with representatives and stakeholders to achieve specifications, appointments, quote opportunities and closures.
  • Solicit feedback on recurring problems and objections; share insights with the product delivery team for future development.
  • Input and maintain quality information on representatives, customers and projects in the CRM system.
  • Use market analysis tools to provide forecasting and help budget planning for assigned regions.
  • Collaborate with representatives to implement new product delivery strategies and mutual action plans for territories.
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring decisions and onboarding of new hires.
  • Provide support to Product Specialists when the Business Development Manager is unavailable.
  • Assist in new product launches with training and sales presentations.
  • Provide feedback on prototypes and iterations to New Product Delivery; assist Marketing/SalesOps with collateral and messaging; support growth strategies with the Business Development Manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus five to seven years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to create and maintain CRM forecasting, follow-up and custom reports.
  • Ability to negotiate written contracts.
  • Exceptional ability to read and understand construction documents.
  • Construction industry knowledge is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of estimating procedures, pricing and discounting.
  • Knowledge of sales procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail; able to handle shifting objectives and high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and customer-facing aptitude, with the ability to identify needs and coordinate resources to deliver service.
  • Ability to work well with others and lead subordinate team members.
  • Motivates, coaches and educates representatives to meet multiple Business Unit budgets.

Annual Salary Range: $70,000 – $120,000. Range will vary by experience and geographic market.
