Job summary

May Mobility is seeking a Senior Product Safety Engineer II to define and implement functional safety concepts aligned with UL4600 and ISO 26262. This role owns the safety plan and collaborates with product managers, development teams, suppliers and customers to achieve safety goals across Driver Out systems.

You will lead safety artifacts (HARA, FSC, TSC, FTA, FMEA, DFA) and communicate technical safety concepts to non-safety engineers while supporting on-time product launches in a fast-growing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a highly technical field.
  • 7+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong initiative and ability to drive challenges to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development of the safety case for our Driver Out system.
  • Define a functional safety concept from safety goals and safety cases per UL4600/ISO 26262.
  • Own and manage the safety plan per UL4600/ISO26262 with a schedule aligned to product launches.
  • Plan and coordinate safety activities with product managers, development teams, suppliers and customers.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure on-time delivery of mature safety work products.
  • Create, maintain and review safety work products (HARA, FSC, TSC, FTA, FMEA, SPFM/LFM, PMHF, DFA).
  • Communicate safety requirements to stakeholders; explain concepts to non-safety engineers.
  • Ensure safety confirmation measures are planned and completed; drive audits/assessments.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on analytical mindset with a track record of problem-solving.

Job Summary

The Senior Product Safety Engineer II is responsible for defining and implementing functional safety concepts derived from safety goals and safety cases, aligning with standards like UL4600 and ISO 26262. This role works closely with various stakeholders throughout the organization, including product managers, development teams, suppliers, and customers, to achieve safety goals across products. The incumbent will own and manage the safety plan, including the planning and execution of functional safety confirmation measures such as audits and assessments to ensure compliance and effectiveness.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Own the development of the safety case for our Driver Out system.
  • Define a functional safety concept from safety goals and safety cases according to UL4600 and ISO 26262.
  • Own and manage the safety plan according UL4600 and ISO26262 including a schedule to hit the company’s product launches.
  • Planning and coordinating the safety activities with product managers, development team, suppliers and customers up to the achievement of the safety goals on products.
  • Collaborate with the development teams on every aspect of the safety plan through appropriate processes and methods to ensure on-time delivery of mature work products.
  • Create, maintain and review safety work products such as HARA, FSC, TSC, FTA, FMEA, SPFM/LFM, PMHF, and DFA.
  • Communicate with all required stakeholders to identify and define technical/ system requirements and safety requirements tied to the safety goals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and explain functional safety concepts to non-safety engineers.
  • Ensure that functional safety confirmation measures such as audits and assessments are planned and completed.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on with an analytical mindset and a proven track record of problem-solving.
  • An enthusiasm for cutting-edge innovation in self-driving technologies and safety products

  • An ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical concepts including root cause analysis, technical challenges and their solutions, and results backed by data.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people and teams.
  • Understanding of software and hardware development life cycles, integration processes, and test/validation complexity
Qualifications and Experience

Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Engineering, Computer Science or highly technical degree preferred
  • 7+ years of related work experience
  • A high level of initiative and activation. Must be able to enthusiastically take on challenges, including those peripheral to core responsibilities when needed for project success.

Desirable

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience. Engineering, Computer Science or highly technical degree preferred

$125,000 — $160,000 USD
