Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) in Pullman, WA seeks a Senior Compliance Engineer – Product Safety to lead and mentor teams, ensuring compliance with national and international product safety standards and guiding design evaluations.

You will collaborate with development, manufacturing, and sales, monitor regulatory changes, and drive improvement projects. A strong electrical engineering background and 12+ years in electronics product safety are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with national and international product safety standards (UL, CSA, IEC, CE, NOM).
• 12+ years in product safety engineering at electronics development/manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of safety test equipment and practices.
• Excellent writing, documentation, presentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain understanding of product safety regulations and solutions.
• Establish understanding of evaluation methods and reports for compliance.
• Mentor engineering, manufacturing, and sales staff on product safety.
• Consult with development teams on design, evaluation, and mitigation for compliance.
• Monitor safety trends and guide standards development and regulatory changes.
• Identify and manage projects to address compliance improvement opportunities.
