Job summary

Apogee Engineering, LLC seeks a Product Owner SME to advance SMPES capability development for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center and USSTRATCOM/J56. You will oversee requirements maturation, backlog management, testing, and fielding, aligning operational goals with release plans and capability delivery.

Based on Offutt AFB, NE, this on-site role demands 12+ years of relevant experience, DoW familiarity, and strong collaboration with users, PMO, and development teams to ensure timely,

Qualifications

• US citizenship required with TS/SCI eligibility.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• 12+ years relevant experience; 5+ years DoW support.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for backlog management.
• Ability to brief senior leaders and coordinate across stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and prioritize product backlogs for SMPES.
• Translate operations needs into clear use cases and workflows.
• Clarify requirements with users, managers, and development teams.
• Elicit requirements from users and PMO personnel.
• Coordinate with users to refine scenarios and requirements artifacts.
• Support agile ceremonies and backlog/release planning.
• Lead or support backlog reviews and sprint planning.
• Validate backlog alignment with priorities and risks.
• Coordinate actions across requirements, development, testing, and fielding.
• Support capability demonstrations and usability sessions.
• Train stakeholders on backlog prioritization and requirements methods.
• Identify issues needing leadership decisions and cross-organizational coordination.
• Track feature progress and ensure timely delivery.
• Ensure alignment of mission goals with technical execution.
• Prepare capability updates and stakeholder briefings.
