Job description

Senior Product Owner, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

New York

About us

Appnovation is the AI Product Company. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with teams around the world, Appnovation builds AI products, delivers enterprise AI and digital solutions, and co-invests with clients to bring new AI products to market.

Open source has been the foundation of Appnovation's work since 2007, and it remains the foundation underneath every AI product the company builds today. Appnovation teams work with organizations in highly regulated industries, including global leaders such as Pfizer, Google and AstraZeneca, to help them adopt AI they can govern and own.

About the Role

As a Senior Product Owner, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), you will own the product vision, strategy and roadmap for the AEM platform at the heart of a global pharmaceutical client’s Content Supply Chain. The platform brings together Adobe Workfront, AEM Assets and Adobe Express to help marketers and agency partners create, review, approve, distribute and reuse content faster and in a compliant way. You will sit between the business and technology teams, working with brand, marketing operations, creative and agency stakeholders, delivery leads, engineering squads and Adobe’s product teams. We are looking for someone with strong business sense and a deep functional understanding of the Adobe ecosystem who can turn business needs into a clear, prioritized backlog and deliver measurable value in a regulated environment where medical, legal and regulatory (MLR) review and brand governance shape how work gets done.

What will you do

  • Platform strategy and roadmap: Drive the AEM platform strategy, set the product vision, goals and success measures (KPIs/OKRs), and build multi-quarter roadmaps with the business that balance new features, enhancements, technical debt and Adobe releases and upgrades.

  • Adobe innovation: Keep up with where Adobe is heading (AEM as a Cloud Service, AEM Assets, Adobe Express, Workfront and generative AI such as Adobe Firefly) and spot where new capabilities can add real business value.

  • Solution options: Weigh configure vs. customize vs. buy, leaning on out-of-the-box Adobe capabilities where they meet the need and keep long-term cost down.

  • Business partnership: Act as the main link between business stakeholders, delivery teams and Adobe, run discovery sessions and workshops with marketers, agencies, marketing operations and MLR reviewers, and build consensus when priorities compete across brands, markets and functions.

  • Communication: Share the roadmap, priorities, release plans, status, risks and trade-offs clearly with every audience, including senior leadership.

  • Backlog ownership: Own and groom the product backlog in Jira, prioritize epics and features by value against effort, risk and dependencies, and write clear epics and user stories with business context and acceptance criteria.

  • Agile delivery: Take part in PI and sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews and demos, and accept completed work against agreed criteria.
Content Supply Chain integration: Shape how AEM, Adobe Express and Workfront work together end to end in a pharmaceutical content supply chain, from intake and briefing through creation, MLR review (e.g., Veeva Vault PromoMats), approval, distribution, modular content reuse and asset expiry.

  • Integrations: Partner with architects on integrations between AEM and connected systems such as Veeva Vault PromoMats, marketing automation, CRM, analytics and agency tools.

  • Vendor and delivery partnership: Work with Adobe product, engineering and Customer Success teams to raise product gaps, champion enhancement requests and join early adopter or beta programs, and work with delivery leads, architects and developers to make sure solutions follow AEM best practices and meet client standards for quality, system validation, data privacy, security and content governance.

  • Adoption and value: Use personas, journey and process mapping and prototyping to design user-centered solutions, track metrics such as content cycle time, asset reuse, platform adoption, user satisfaction and cost per asset, and partner with change management and training teams to drive adoption.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis or digital platform roles, including 3+ years as a Product Owner for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or a comparable DAM or content platform.

  • Strong functional knowledge of AEM Assets, including metadata schemas and taxonomy, tagging (including Smart Tags), folder structures and permissions, workflows, templates and components, Content Fragments, Dynamic Media, renditions and asset distribution (e.g., Brand Portal / Content Hub).

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Express (brand kits, locked and editable templates, AEM Assets integration) and Adobe Workfront (portfolios, programs, projects, request queues, custom forms, proofing and approvals), and how they integrate with AEM.

  • Proven experience building and communicating product roadmaps in partnership with business stakeholders.

  • Hands‑on experience working in Agile (Scrum or SAFe), writing epics and user stories, and managing backlogs in Jira.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize based on value and effort and to make clear trade‑off decisions.

  • Experience working with software vendors or product partners, ideally Adobe.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and collaboration skills.

  • Must be based in the United States and able to work Eastern Time (ET) hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences or another regulated industry, including familiarity with MLR review processes and tools such as Veeva Vault PromoMats.

  • Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service and with Content Supply Chain or modular content initiatives.

  • Familiarity with generative AI content capabilities such as Adobe Firefly or Adobe GenStudio.

  • Adobe certifications (e.g., AEM or Workfront) and/or product ownership certifications (e.g., CSPO, SAFe POPM).

  • Experience with Confluence, Miro or similar collaboration tools.

  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Platform and Tools Experience

  • Adobe Experience Cloud: AEM as a Cloud Service, AEM Assets (DAM), Dynamic Media, Brand Portal / Content Hub, Adobe Express, Adobe Workfront and the Workfront for Experience Manager connector.

  • Regulated content: Veeva Vault PromoMats and MLR review workflows.

  • Delivery and collaboration:Jira, Confluence, Miro.
