Job description

Senior Product Manager, Returns Optimization

Job ID: 10488612 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Are you ready to revolutionize how Amazon handles customer returns? Join Amazon Worldwide Returns & ReCommerce (WW R&R) as a Senior Product Manager and lead the transformation of our returns supply chain. You will create innovative solutions that bypass traditional return centers, sending products directly to their final destination—making returns faster, cheaper, and more sustainable for customers and the planet.

At Amazon Worldwide Returns & ReCommerce, we aspire to zero: zero cost of returns, zero waste, and zero defects. We are an agile, innovative organization dedicated to "making zero happen" to benefit our customers, company, and environment. We constantly innovate to create long-term value at Amazon by investing in the future and focusing on the planet, not just on the bottom line. WW R&R includes business, product, program, data, and software engineering teams who together manage the lifecycle of returned and damaged products.

In this role, you will own the strategy and execution for our direct-to-disposition program, working at the intersection of product innovation, operations optimization, and supply chain transformation. You will collaborate with product managers, program managers, software developers, vendor managers, and internal and third-party operations stakeholders to build solutions that fundamentally change how we process returns. You will have end-to-end visibility across the return supply chain and the opportunity to innovate on behalf of our customers at scale.

Key job responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the strategy for onboarding new partners with innovative capabilities, configuring returns injections in the direct-to-disposition program
  • Design and implement total recovery optimized logic at return creation to route returns efficiently to their final disposition
  • Lead three-year planning and Operating Plan (OP) cycles, setting the overall strategy for direct-to-disposition expansion
  • Support worldwide parity by extending direct-to-disposition capabilities to Europe and emerging markets
  • Optimize sortation operations for the direct-to-disposition program, becoming the subject matter expert in evaluation and sidelining tools
  • Lead the creation of removals and accounting workflows for direct-to-disposition inventory
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and contract adherence for smooth removals
  • Drive sortation topology and capacity planning, generating forecasts to expand the direct-to-disposition network
  • Analyze and report the profit and loss (P&L) impact of the direct-to-disposition initiative to senior leadership
