Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager to lead the development and implementation of Trust and Safety and Responsible AI solutions for our cutting-edge Generative AI features. Our mission is to ensure our platform remains a safe and positive environment for all users as we rapidly innovate with new AI technologies. This role will be critical in shaping the future of AI safety, focusing on mitigating risks associated with generative AI across text, image, and video modalities.
The Trust and Safety Generative AI role will be part of the TikTok Ads Creative & Ecosystem team, which develops world-leading tech solutions for ads creative production, interpretation, and optimization. Our goal is to empower and inspire advertisers, creators, and other third parties in the ecosystem to create and deliver engaging creative experiences to end users.
This team is responsible for defining the vision, roadmap, and building products for Symphony, TikTok's suite of AI-powered creative tools. A key product within Symphony is Creative Studio, a video generation tool that can produce a TikTok video in minutes from minimal inputs, supporting advertisers and content creators with free capabilities to make the creative process easier and more efficient. The team will continue to expand Symphony with new AI-driven products and features that revolutionize content creation on TikTok.
Responsibilities:
- Product Sense and Strategy: Demonstrate a strong product sense, understanding user needs and market trends related to generative AI. Contribute to product strategy and roadmap, balancing innovation with Trust & Safety considerations.
- Deep Understanding of Generative AI: Possess a strong understanding of the capabilities and limitations of various generative AI models (e.g., text, image, audio, video).
- Expertise in Trust & Safety Principles: Demonstrate a solid grasp of core Trust & Safety principles, including content moderation, platform integrity, user safety, and privacy.
- Bias Detection and Mitigation: Understand bias in AI systems, particularly in generative models. Be proficient in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating various types of bias (e.g., demographic, representation, algorithmic).
- Content Moderation Expertise: Be knowledgeable about content moderation strategies and best practices, especially as they relate to AI-generated content. This includes understanding challenges in identifying and addressing harmful or misleading content created by generative models.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments of generative AI products and features, identifying potential harms and developing mitigation strategies.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to address complex Trust & Safety challenges related to generative AI. Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions.
- Metrics and Measurement: Define and track key metrics to measure Trust & Safety effectiveness in generative AI. Use data to inform product decisions.
- Prioritization and Execution: Prioritize demands and execute Trust & Safety initiatives effectively in a fast-paced environment. Set clear goals, track progress, and manage stakeholders.
- Staying Up-to-Date: Keep abreast of latest advancements in generative AI research, Trust & Safety challenges, and best practices. Continuous learning is essential.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Trust and Safety and AI/ML fairness.
- 5+ years of product management experience, taking technical consumer products from conception to launch.
- Strong technical background working with AI/ML and engineering teams to design trust and safety detection systems.
- Deep understanding of user behavior, trust and safety concerns, and effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Proficient in Mandarin for cross-functional collaboration.
- Located in San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, or Los Angeles.
- Deep understanding of advertising landscape and needs of advertisers, including ad creative development and optimization.

Job Information
Base salary range in the selected city: $165,120 - $414,000 annually. Compensation varies based on experience, skills, location, and may include bonuses, stock units, and benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), paid leave, and more.
