Job summary

Toast is seeking a Senior Product Manager to drive the operational execution of our enterprise data governance function within a cloud-based data solutions team. You will build and run policies, processes, and programs to keep data trustworthy, compliant, and discoverable at scale, partnering with business and technical stakeholders.

You will own data domain model, governance council activities, policy rollout, and metadata standards adoption while enabling data literacy across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or analytics.
• Familiarity with DAMA DMBOK or equivalent governance frameworks.
• Working knowledge of modern data stack platforms (Snowflake, dbt, cloud warehouses).
• Hands-on experience with data catalog and metadata tools (DataHub, Alation, Atlan).
• Proficiency in SQL for governance reporting and data quality analysis.

The role focuses on building and running the policies, processes, and programs that keep organizational data trustworthy, compliant, and discoverable at scale. It blends strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, partnering closely with business and technical stakeholders across domains.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the data domain model, ensuring clear ownership assignments and tracking adoption metrics for leadership reporting.
• Facilitate the data governance council, including agenda setting, action tracking, and coordination with stewards across domains.
• Support the development, documentation, and rollout of enterprise data policies; monitor compliance and coordinate remediation with domain owners.
• Assemble governance documentation for audits and risk reviews while maintaining the policy register.
• Own day‑to‑day operations of the business glossary, run definition workshops, certify terms with domain owners, and drive metadata standard adoption.
• Coordinate data maturity assessments, synthesize outputs into actionable recommendations, and deliver training to raise data literacy across the organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or analytics, with a track record of implementing stewardship models, policy execution, or catalog rollouts.
• Familiarity with established data governance frameworks such as DAMA DMBOK.
• Working knowledge of modern data stack platforms including Snowflake, dbt, or cloud data warehouses.
• Hands‑on experience with data catalog and metadata management tools such as DataHub, Alion, or Atlan.
• Proficiency in SQL for governance reporting and data quality analysis.
• Strong workshop facilitation, consensus‑building, and program management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently.

Nice to have

• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification or active coursework.
• Experience with data observability tools such as Monte Carlo or Great Expectations.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks like SOC 2, GDPR, or CCPA, plus AI governance practices.
• Prior background in B2B SaaS or restaurant technology.
