Job description

Product Manager — Core Platform (Customer Portal & Data Delivery)

Build the platform every customer runs on — from the portal they open to the data they trust.

[Location: Irvine, CA · Hybrid] · [Full-time]

About Field AI

Field AI builds field foundation models that bring real autonomy to robots working in the physical world — on construction sites, across facilities, and out in the field. We automate the dull, dirty, and dangerous work across the entire lifecycle of an asset, delivering immediate value to the people who build, operate, and own it, and turning every piece of data we collect into queryable insight.

About the role

About the role

The Core Platform is the horizontal spine of FieldAI: one portal, one data pipeline, and one reliability standard that every customer in every industry runs on. As our second Core PM, you'll own the Customer Portal and the Data Delivery pipeline end to end from the moment a robot captures data in the field to the moment it lands, on time and on SLA, in front of the customer. You'll work alongside the Lead Product Manager to keep the platform coherent as four industry verticals pull on it, making sure everything we build once transfers everywhere.

This is a senior role. Our customers are large enterprises in heavy industry: they plan in fiscal years and capital cycles, buy through procurement, and measure us against the lifecycle of the assets they build and operate. Our product is a robot in the field plus the software that turns what it captures into value. We're looking for a PM who has experience on both sides of that inside a large corporation and a startup, on products where hardware and software are in the loop together and who knows when to move fast and when the enterprise needs predictability and product reliability.

  • Own the customer problem, run discovery with enterprise stakeholders, field teams, and deployment engineers, and turn what you hear into a prioritized, evidence-backed problem list, not a wish list. Understand how our customers plan, budget, and operate their assets, and make sure the platform fits how they actually work.

  • Own the roadmap and the scope for your areas define, sequence, and commit scope with clear requirements; make the hard tradeoffs and clearly communicate them to the leadership; replace vague, half-finished acceptance criteria with crisp ones engineering can relate to.

  • Partner with engineering day to day embed with the HRI and Platform & Data Delivery teams, and lead the technical discussions that turn a customer problem into the most elegant solution, not the first one across the full loop from robot capture to customer deliverable.

  • Run a disciplined intake — rank needs in priority order: customer feedback first, then field and deployment engineers, then development engineers, so the loudest wish never outranks the real need.

  • Keep the platform coherent — field cross-vertical asks from the vertical PMs, spot duplication, and make sure shared capabilities are built once and transfer everywhere.

  • Establish data metrics, own platform usage analytics and SLA metrics; close the loop with usage data and field feedback, retire what isn't landing, and double down on what is.

  • Support the planning cadence — help the Lead PM run the L-cycle planning process and consolidate vertical roadmaps into one company roadmap, bringing enterprise planning discipline to startup speed.

  • Raise the bar — set the standard for discovery, PRDs, and acceptance criteria on the Core team.

  • The Customer Portal (app.fieldai.com); the front door every customer walks through in partnership with the HRI and Web engineering team.

  • Data Delivery and SLA & Reliability — the pipeline that turns field capture into on-time, trustworthy customer deliverables — in partnership with the Platform & Data Delivery engineering team.

  • Contribution to shared Core surfaces — reports and insights, FieldAssist, and mission tooling alongside the Lead Core PM.

  • 8+ years of product management experience — with multiple products shipped end to end, including at least one B2B web or SaaS platform you owned through its full lifecycle.

  • Enterprise and startup experience (strongly preferred) — you've shipped inside a large corporation and inside a startup. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where conditions change weekly, and you understand how large organizations actually work: how they plan and budget, how procurement and decisions run, and how long asset lifecycles are; preferably in heavy industry (construction, energy, mining, manufacturing) or technology.

  • Hardware + software product experience (strongly preferred) — you've built products with hardware and software in the loop, where users get the value in the software or control the hardware from it: robotics, autonomy, IoT, industrial automation, or connected devices.

  • Technical fluency — you're comfortable in discussions about APIs, data pipelines, and reliability metrics, and you can lead a technical design review, not just hold your own in one.

  • Deep customer empathy and strong discovery skills — you turn messy field reality into a prioritized problem list, not a wish list.

  • Evidence of ownership at scale — you've defined scope for a product line or platform area, committed to it, and delivered — including the hard calls on what not to build.

  • Excellent written communication — crisp PRDs, clear acceptance criteria, and status the whole team can act on.

  • Low ego, high curiosity — you'd rather ask the question that unblocks the team than look like the smartest person in the room.

Bonus points
  • Direct experience in robotics, autonomy, or computer vision products.

  • Experience with B2B customer portals, dashboards, or data-delivery products.

  • Familiarity with SLAs, observability, or reliability engineering concepts.

  • Experience navigating enterprise procurement, IT, and security reviews — or time on the customer side in asset management or capital planning.
