Job description

Be Part Of A High-Performing Team:

Join a fast-moving, technology-focused insurance organization that is modernizing how retirement, annuity, and life insurance products are delivered through digital platforms and partner ecosystems. The team operates with an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong bias toward execution, and a culture centered on collaboration, ownership, and practical innovation. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy, platform modernization, partner experience, and regulated financial services, supporting work that will shape how external distributors, integrators, and producers connect with insurance products through APIs, data feeds, event streams, and emerging digital interfaces.

What\'s In Store For You:

This is a full-time opportunity with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite presence in Durham, NC three days per week. The role offers the chance to own a high-impact digital product area, influence partner-facing platform strategy, represent the company in industry modernization conversations, and help define how insurance carriers, distributors, and technology partners exchange data and build integrated experiences. Benefits package and long-term incentive plan are available.

How You Will Make An Impact
  • Own the product roadmap and go-to-market execution for an external partner platform spanning APIs, data feeds, status services, event streams, and future integration patterns.
  • Translate evolving insurance and annuity industry standards into a differentiated product strategy that improves partner connectivity and scalability.
  • Partner with distribution, operations, actuarial, compliance, technology, finance, strategy, and data stakeholders to align platform capabilities with business needs.
  • Conduct voice-of-partner research with IMOs, banks, broker-dealers, RIAs, wealth platforms, and system integrators to uncover ecosystem friction and product opportunities.
  • Author clear, actionable product specifications for complex API workflows, partner integrations, and developer-facing capabilities.
  • Work closely with engineering to deliver scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly platform capabilities for internal teams and external partners.
  • Evaluate build, buy, and partner opportunities with external vendors to accelerate product delivery and speed to market.
  • Define success metrics around partner adoption, integration velocity, transaction volume, and measurable business impact.
  • Support partner-facing enablement materials such as API documentation, developer portal content, integration guides, and platform positioning.
Do You Bring Proven Success In API Platform Product Management?
  • 7+ years of digital product management experience, with significant ownership of API, platform, integration, or developer-facing products.
  • Strong API-as-product mindset, with the ability to define technical requirements for developers, systems integrators, and external partners.
  • Experience in insurance, fintech, wealth-tech, financial services, or another regulated enterprise environment; annuity or life insurance experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to take ambiguous market opportunities and turn them into structured product strategy, roadmap, execution plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience with platform products where partners, vendors, or external systems build experiences on top of core capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery, sprint planning, backlog management, and software development management tools.
  • Ability to synthesize complex needs across business, technology, compliance, operations, distribution, actuarial, finance, and data teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort representing product strategy externally with partners, vendors, working groups, or industry forums.
  • Exposure to annuity or life insurance lifecycle systems such as illustration, e-application, suitability, policy administration systems, or post-issue servicing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IRI, ACORD, NAIC, LIMRA, OpenAPI/Swagger, webhooks, event-driven architecture, developer portals, and emerging integration patterns is a plus.
