Job description

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of a portfolio of products within Kopin’s defense and commercial manufacturing environment. This role oversees full product lifecycle ownership — from concept and introduction through sustainment and end‑of‑life — ensuring that each product meets performance, quality, cost, and availability targets.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Define, update, and maintain multi‑year product roadmaps that incorporate new development, enhancements, and technology refreshes.
• Support long‑term planning efforts and ensure alignment with Kopin’s broader strategic priorities.

Lifecycle Ownership

• Manage the complete product lifecycle from introduction through end‑of‑life.
• Lead obsolescence management efforts and coordinate continuity‑of‑supply risk mitigation.

Business & Financial Management

• Develop pricing strategies and business cases that support growth, competitiveness, and profitability.
• Conduct forecasting, market analysis, and reporting to guide data‑driven decisions.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

• Partner with engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure product performance, cost, and availability targets are met.
• Drive cross‑functional execution without direct authority, ensuring disciplined delivery across teams.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on product applications, system performance, and competitive alternatives.
• Engage with customers, business development, and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into prioritized product improvements.
• Support proposal development and customer positioning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Kopin is a U.S. defense contractor and is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Accordingly, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (green card holders) to be eligible for this position.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering), Business, or related field.
• 7+ years in product management, program management, or equivalent technical/business roles.
• Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or defense environments.
• Hands on technical/opto-electronic, silicon wafer experience.

Technical & Business Skills

• Strong understanding of hardware‑based products and product lifecycle management. Demonstrated ability to develop pricing strategies and business cases.
• Strong analytical skills including forecasting and market analysis, financial acumen.
• Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to interface across engineering, operations, and business functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with government or defense programs.
• Background in systems engineering or complex hardware systems.
• Familiarity with drone/FPV systems or real‑time video pipelines.
• Knowledge of supply chain, obsolescence management, and production environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is performed in an office environment, whether on‑site or remotely, and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items, walk short distances, and gown according to clean room protocols as required. Ability to travel.

**The salary range for this position is $150k to $200k annually, plus bonus**
