Job description

Senior Manager, Product Management – Finance & Data

Location: Chicago, IL

Salary Range: $148,200–$211,150

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Product Management to lead strategic Finance-focused data, reporting, and analytics products within a large, sophisticated professional services organization.

This is a highly visible individual contributor leadership role for a seasoned Product Manager who can independently take complex ideas from concept through launch and continued optimization. You will partner closely with Finance stakeholders and Data & AI teams to identify business challenges, define product strategy, establish roadmaps, and deliver technology and data solutions that improve operational efficiency and enable better decision-making.

The ideal candidate brings strong end-to-end product management experience, including demonstrated success taking products from 0 to 1, and is comfortable operating in environments where the initial problem or solution may not be fully defined. You should be naturally curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of turning an abstract vision into an actionable product strategy and successful solution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own strategic Finance product initiatives from initial discovery through development, testing, deployment, launch, and ongoing optimization.
  • Lead the complete 0-to-1 product lifecycle, translating business challenges and opportunities into scalable products and solutions.
  • Develop and execute product strategies, roadmaps, milestones, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner closely with Finance stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, data needs, reporting requirements, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate strategic objectives and stakeholder needs into clearly defined product requirements and executable plans.
  • Lead discovery efforts to identify and validate business problems before defining potential solutions.
  • Independently manage multiple product workstreams with minimal oversight.
  • Partner with Data, AI, Engineering, Analytics, and other technical teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support products involving complex datasets, reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment across business and technical teams, balancing competing priorities and managing expectations.
  • Establish clear success metrics and use data and stakeholder feedback to evaluate product performance.
  • Continue ownership after launch, identifying opportunities to refine, enhance, and evolve products based on business needs and performance.
  • Bring structure and product discipline to emerging ideas and requests, moving teams from reactive execution toward a more strategic, product-led approach.
  • Communicate product strategy, priorities, progress, risks, and outcomes effectively to senior stakeholders and leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years of dedicated Product Management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience owning products throughout the full end-to-end lifecycle.
  • Proven experience taking a product or solution from 0 to 1, including discovery, definition, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch refinement.
  • Strong experience developing and executing product roadmaps and translating strategy into actionable plans, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex product initiatives with minimal direction.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including the ability to partner with senior business and technical leaders.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical, data, analytics, or engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and discovery skills with the ability to uncover stakeholder pain points and translate them into product opportunities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and turn loosely defined business needs into structured solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Product management experience supporting Finance, Accounting, Financial Operations, or related functions.
  • Previous experience in public accounting, financial services, or another finance-intensive environment before transitioning into Product Management is highly desirable.
  • Experience delivering data, reporting, analytics, or AI-enabled products.
  • Technical understanding of large and complex datasets.
  • Experience working within a large professional services, legal, consulting, or similarly complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience helping organizations transition from project- or request-driven delivery toward a more mature product operating model.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership. The successful candidate won't need a fully defined set of requirements before getting started. Instead, they will ask the right questions, uncover the underlying business problem, create structure around ambiguity, and move stakeholders toward a solution.

Intellectual curiosity is particularly important. This person should genuinely want to understand how Finance stakeholders work, what challenges they are experiencing, and how technology, data, and analytics can improve those processes.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to help shape how a major professional services organization uses data, analytics, AI, and modern product management practices to transform its operations.

You’ll have the opportunity to:
  • Own highly visible products with meaningful organizational impact.
  • Work with modern and emerging technology across Data & AI.
  • Partner directly with influential Finance and business leaders.
  • Take meaningful ownership of products rather than simply managing a backlog.
  • Help establish and mature a more strategic, product-led approach to technology delivery.
  • Join an organization making significant investments in technology, data, and innovation.
Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $148,200–$211,150, depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.

This is a full-time position based in Chicago, IL, with a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite. Regular and reliable attendance is required, and occasional additional hours may be necessary based on business needs.
