Job summary

Steelcase in Grand Rapids is seeking a Senior Resident Product Engineer to support major supply-chain initiatives across suppliers, manufacturing locations, materials, and existing product designs. You will evaluate alternatives, qualify materials and suppliers, and drive engineering solutions to improve quality, delivery, cost, and long-term performance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in product or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience defining performance requirements on drawings.
• Experience with product changes involving suppliers and lifecycle.
• Authorized to work in the United States full-time; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support major supply-chain initiatives with engineering input across suppliers and plants.
• Investigate material and supplier issues to improve continuity and performance.
• Qualify new materials, suppliers, and design changes for quality.
• Improve existing product designs post-launch to meet evolving needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute projects.
• Manage engineering activities across product lines and sites to hit cost/quality/delivery goals.
• Drive cost savings and resolve supply-chain issues with engineering solutions.
