Job summary

Solid Power is seeking an experienced product engineer with a background in materials chemistry and battery systems to join the Electrolyte Systems Engineering team. The role focuses on synthesis, characterization, and performance improvement of solid-state electrolyte powders to meet customer needs.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, adhere to safety protocols, document experiments, and mentor junior staff while advancing our solid-state electrolyte technology.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or battery industry desirable.
• Experience with inorganic, solid state, or synthetic chemistry disciplines desirable.
• Experience with materials characterization techniques and electrochemical testing methods.
• Experience handling air- and water-sensitive materials.

Responsibilities

• Identify key factors for electrolyte synthesis and downstream processing to improve quality and performance.
• Characterize electrolytes and electrode materials to relate process, structure, and properties.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production and meet customer needs.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain thorough records of experiments.
• Mentor junior team members, operators, and interns.
• Document and update SOPs as processes evolve.
