Job Title: Senior Engineer, Product Development

Reporting to the Director of Product Development, the Senior Engineer brings deep expertise in back-end technologies and over five years of hands-on experience. This individual serves as a technical leader, contributing to the development and delivery of technology-driven applications, products, and services.

The primary focus of this role is back-end and application development. The Senior Engineer is responsible for solving complex technical challenges, adhering to development timelines, and ensuring that delivered solutions meet both specifications and design standards. This role also requires staying current with industry trends, evaluating emerging technologies, and recommending improvements to enhance processes and drive innovation.

Core Responsibilities

1. Lead cross-functional architecture efforts alongside product and development teams, ensuring scalable, secure, and performant systems across web and ML applications.
2. Evolve our MLOps strategy—from managing Azure ML Studio environments to automating workflows using Databricks and GitHub Actions.
3. Review and contribute to application-level pull requests, providing feedback on architecture, performance, security, and scalability.
4. Translate technical infrastructure and DevOps concerns into product-aligned strategies.
5. Manage our fleet of containerized applications and app services on Azure—ensuring uptime, security, cost-efficiency, and performance.
6. Create and maintain detailed, scalable infrastructure documentation and operational playbooks.
7. Participate in audits, security reviews, and enforce data privacy and security policies.
8. Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and release processes.
9. Identify inefficiencies in authentication systems and propose schema enhancements for scalability and maintainability.
10. Actively contribute to system design meetings and provide guidance across backend, infrastructure, and ML topics.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services, including App Services, Cosmos DB, Azure ML Studio, and Databricks.
• Proficient in scripting (Python, JS) and App Service Development.
• Experience with Hasura, GraphQL APIs, and modern data platforms.
• Demonstrated experience managing production-grade systems, including logging, monitoring, load balancing, and recovery strategies.
• Excellent understanding of application security best practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and cloud-native deployment workflows.
• Comfortable working with SQL and NoSQL databases and handling data pipelines.
• Excellent communicator who can translate technical challenges into business terms and collaborate across departments.

Experience Requirements:

• Microsoft Azure experience is essential.
• 5+ years’ experience in an Agile Data Engineering or Full Stack role covering Python and various web frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with medium to large cloud systems.
• Strong knowledge of Azure core features, including App Services, Databases, Databricks, Networking, Storage, Azure Functions, etc.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python, and frontend frameworks like React.
