Job summary

Arclin has an immediate, full-time on-site role in Cleveland, OH, seeking a senior-level technologist to lead strategic tire materials projects and guide R&T initiatives across market segments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of job-related experience (prefer 10+).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to coordinate activities on site and between sites.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tire rubber materials, compounding, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Business and/or Technical Directors with the development, implementation and deployment of an approved technology strategy for each market segment
  • Identifies and recommends optimum resource deployment, including lab activity, in support of the respective strategy
  • Integrates the innovative thinking of direct reports, peers, project team members into decisions which benefit project outcomes
  • Creates a team environment conducive to innovation; sustains team members' focus on time/cost/quality outcomes while delivering innovative solutions
  • Ensures that project work occurs in compliance with all Arclin policies and procedures including HSE and regulatory requirements
  • Gains credibility with peers by delivering results which accelerate Arclin's progress towards strategic goals, while being consistent with Arclin's values
  • Communicates with internal and external customers to ensure project plans and work in progress will meet desired outcomes
  • Interfaces with Customer personnel to determine current and future technology needs and recommend appropriate action plans to the Business Region Management
  • Solicits feedback from key stakeholders at regular intervals to ensure quality, cost and response time continue to meet with customer expectations
  • Using expert knowledge, develops the technical know-how and capability of the Arclin R&T organization in the areas of advanced tire materials characterization, process and manufacturing simulation, tire/d vehicle performance modeling, and tire digital twin development.

  • Devises and carries out projects that target defined, strategic scientific objectives in a timely, cost-efficient, and safe manner.
  • Uses structure/property relationship thinking to develop, evaluate, and refine formulations.
  • Conducts rubber formulating, mixing and testing, material optimizations, and material characterization using a variety of chemical, physical, or mechanical techniques common to the field of rubber science.
  • Bachelors' degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering or related field is required
  • Minimum five (5) years job related experience (Prefer 10yrs+)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to coordinate activities both on site and between sites
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
  • Tire rubber materials, compounding, formulating, and manufacturing including EV passenger tread compounding, approaches targeting wet traction, treadwear, and fuel economy; truck/bus tread compounding for treadwear and fuel economy.
  • Rubber property relationships to tire performance and compound property influence on tire design parameters.
  • Advanced tire materials testing and characterization methods
  • Digital simulation of rubber and tire manufacturing processes, tire/vehicle performance modelling, and digital twin development.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience using rubber laboratory equipment including Moving Die Rheometer (MDR), Rubber Process Analyzer (RPA), Mooney Viscometer, Universal Testing Machine (i.e., Tensile Tester), Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA), laboratory rubber mixers (Banbury and Brabender), and Two-Roll Mill
