Senior Product Development Chemist

Crypton, LLC – Kings Mountain, NC (30 miles west of Charlotte, NC)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Product Development Chemist to join our team in Kings Mountain, NC. This role supports development efforts for a wide variety of Crypton and Nanotex products used in high-performance upholstery, apparel, bedding, vinyl, and leather. Job Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
  • Coordinate lab work, verify cost calculations, and oversee plant trial implementation for new product development
  • Design experiments and independently develop new finishes from inception to finished product by modifying existing finishes and testing new formulations
  • Support new product launches
  • Travel as needed (estimated 10%)
Sustainability
  • Collect and analyze process data to suggest improvements
  • Research environmentally preferable raw materials
Manufacturing Support
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and process engineering
  • Coordinate fabric testing and chemical analysis
  • Conduct root cause analysis of issues
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in chemical or textile processing
  • Proven record of innovation and product development
  • Detail-oriented with good organization skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of organic and polymer chemistry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with analytical and quality control processes (FTIR, extractions, solids)
Minimum Education

B.S. in Textile Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Materials Science and Engineering, or Technical Textiles

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Frequently stand, walk, handle, and reach; lift up to 40 pounds regularly and more occasionally
  • Work in humid conditions, near moving parts, with fumes or airborne particles; moderate noise level
