Job description

Parallel is a pioneering provider of care for learning and learning differences in the USA, celebrating the unique ways of thinking that come with these differences. Our mission is to empower students with the resources and encouragement they need to excel in the classroom and beyond. We streamline support by integrating providers and resources on a unified platform, connecting students with qualified professionals while reducing waiting times, costs, and confusion. Our services include a range of therapeutic and educational offerings. We are at the forefront of empowering students to reach their full potential, while providing the highest quality clinical experience.

About This Role

We're seeking a Senior Product Designer who thrives at the intersection of user experience and technical execution. This isn't a traditional designer role—you'll be the primary product owner responsible for end-to-end product development, from strategic vision to implementation. You'll work directly with engineering to build products that fundamentally change how children with learning differences receive care, while navigating the complex needs of students, parents, educators, and clinicians.

This role demands someone who can think systematically about product strategy while executing tactical design work. You'll be responsible for a platform that serves as the central nervous system for our entire operation, touching every department and stakeholder in our ecosystem.

Seize this exciting opportunity to:

  • Shape the product direction of a rapidly scaling platform serving vulnerable student populations
  • Own the complete product development lifecycle in a high-impact, high-visibility role
  • Work directly with clinical and educational professionals to solve complex workflow challenges
  • Build design systems and processes that will scale with our growth
  • Drive measurable outcomes for children and the U.S. K-12 educational system
Key Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy & Vision: Define product roadmap based on user research, business objectives, and technical constraints. Make strategic product decisions that balance user needs with business viability and technical feasibility.
  • End-to-End Design Ownership: Lead user research initiatives, synthesize insights into actionable design decisions, and create high-fidelity designs in Figma. Establish and maintain design systems that scale across our platform.
  • Technical Product Management: Collaborate directly with engineering to understand technical limitations, scope features appropriately, and ensure designs are implementable within our tech stack. Bridge the gap between design intent and technical execution.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work with clinical teams, educators, parents, and internal departments to gather requirements and validate solutions. Translate complex stakeholder needs into clear product requirements.
  • Agile Leadership: Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, and feature prioritization. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and ensure timely delivery of product milestones.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Establish metrics and KPIs to measure product success. Use quantitative and qualitative data to iterate on designs and validate product decisions.
What We Need To See
  • 5+ years of product design experience with demonstrated ownership of product strategy and execution
  • Strong design portfolio showcasing complex B2B products, with clear articulation of your design process and measurable impact on user outcomes and business metrics
  • Expert-level proficiency in modern design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar) including component libraries, design systems, and prototyping capabilities
  • Technical fluency sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, understand technical constraints, and make informed design decisions within technical boundaries
  • Proven project management skills with experience leading cross-functional product development from conception to launch in fast-paced environments
  • Experience with agile methodologies and familiarity with tools like Linear, Jira, or similar project management platforms
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience using quantitative and qualitative data to validate design decisions and measure success
  • Excellent stakeholder management with demonstrated ability to conduct user research, facilitate customer interviews, and synthesize feedback from diverse internal and external stakeholders into actionable design decisions
  • Track record of rapid industry adaptation with examples of successfully getting up to speed in complex, regulated, or specialized domains and delivering meaningful product improvements within your first 6 months
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex ideas and defend design decisions to C-level executives, technical teams, and external customers
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
Ways To Stand Out
  • Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, fintech, legal tech) or complex service delivery environments
  • Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and designing inclusive experiences for diverse user needs
  • Background in clinical workflows, educational service delivery, or other multi-stakeholder operational environments
  • Experience scaling design systems and establishing design operations in rapidly growing organizations
  • Customer-facing experience including user interviews, usability testing, and translating customer feedback into product roadmap priorities
