Job summary

Chess.com is seeking a Senior Product Designer for Connect to lead end-to-end design of web, iOS, and Android experiences for a global community of players. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and fellow designers to craft cohesive experiences across platforms.

You’ll influence product direction, raise the craft bar, and create high‑fidelity prototypes using our Design System to accelerate decisions. This is a fully remote role with global applicants.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing consumer-facing products or games.
• Strong visual craft and product judgement.
• Portfolio with web and mobile UI work demonstrating craft and product thinking.
• Fluency with design systems and cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design of high-impact product experiences across Chess.com’s web, iOS, and Android apps.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design to shape requirements, clarify ambiguity, and influence direction.
• Design how players connect and feel part of a global community on key features like Home, Profile, Friends, Messaging, and Notifications.
• Think horizontally across features and the broader design system to improve consistency, usability, and quality.
• Raise craft with strong UI design, thoughtful interactions, and product judgment grounded in context and user insight.
• Proactively identify meaningful product opportunities beyond the brief and drive design direction.
• Present designs clearly, articulate decisions, and align cross-functional partners to reach strong outcomes.
• Build high-fidelity prototypes using our Design System to explore directions and accelerate decisions.
• Contribute to design critiques and help strengthen the team’s work without people-management responsibility.
• Maintain design ownership through implementation and ensure design-to-code alignment across platforms.
