Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Designer for the Developer Foundations team to own the end-to-end experience of the Coinbase Developer Portal. You will shape docs, API dashboards, onboarding flows, and self-service tooling for external developers integrating with our platform.

You will lead design system contributions, collaborate with product, engineering, and Developer Relations, and conduct user research with external developers to validate decisions and drive adoption at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years designing developer tools, technical platforms, or documentation experiences.
• End-to-end ownership of multi-surface products shipped to production.
• Portfolio showing systematic, scalable design thinking and design system contributions.
• Proficiency in Figma for delivery, prototyping, and design system management.
• Experience turning user research insights into design decisions and outcomes.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve efficiency, cost, and quality.

• Lead design system contributions specific to developer-facing surfaces, ensuring consistency and scalability across the Portal experience.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Developer Relations to identify friction points in the developer journey and ship high-impact improvements.
• Drive user research and usability testing with external developers to validate design decisions and uncover unmet needs.
• Shape how AI-powered features surface within the Portal, including intelligent search, contextual guidance, and code generation experiences.
• Build and maintain design specs, prototypes, and interaction patterns in Figma that serve as the source of truth for engineering delivery.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years designing developer tools, technical platforms, or documentation experiences.
• Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end design for complex, multi-surface products shipped to production.
• Proven experience contributing to or maintaining a design system, with a portfolio showing systematic, scalable design thinking.
• Proficiency in Figma for design delivery, prototyping, and design system management.
• Track record of integrating user research insights into design decisions, with examples of how research changed a shipped outcome.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice:

Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)). Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):$180,370—$212,200 USD
