Job summary

Clear Street Active is building its design team from scratch and seeks an early hire to shape the foundation of a fast-growing retail trading platform. The role centers on design systems but will influence product decisions alongside product managers and engineers from day one.

You'll use AI tooling daily and ensure token governance, accessibility, and high-quality UI components while coordinating with PMs and engineers on system-driven product work.

Qualifications

• Built or rebuilt a design system from scratch.
• Proficient with Figma Variables and design tokens.
• Ability to explain token naming, semantic structure, and governance.
• Able to use AI tooling to close gaps in workflows.
• Familiar with investing or trading concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own the design system: tokens, Figma Variables, component library, Code Connect mappings, and docs.
• Bridge design and engineering; identify drift and fix it with engineering.
• Set and uphold accessibility and quality standards.
• Collaborate with PMs and product designers when system decisions have product implications.
• Use AI tooling to improve workflows and outputs.

Clear Street Active is a new retail trading platform building its design team from scratch and seeking an early hire to help set the foundation as the company builds fast. The role is rooted in design systems but will also involve product decisions alongside product managers and engineers from day one. The position expects use of AI tooling as part of regular work.

What you'll do

• Own the design system: token architecture, Figma Variables, component library, Code Connect mappings, documentation
• Serve as the connection between design and engineering; catch drift and work with engineering to fix it
• Set and uphold accessibility and quality standards
• Work with PMs and product designers when systems decisions have product implications
• Use AI tooling as part of how you work (examples: Claude Code, Cursor)

What they're looking for

• Has built or substantially rebuilt a design system, not just contributed to one
• Fluent in Figma Variables, design tokens, and the Figma-to-code bridge (e.g., Code Connect, Token Studio, or equivalent)
• Has opinions about token naming, semantic structure, and governance, and can explain them clearly to an engineer or a PM
• Uses AI tooling to actually close gaps, not just as an experiment
• Some familiarity with investing or trading, from work or personal use
• Comfortable in the product layer and understands end users
• Can work without much oversight
• Experience with Token Studio or Style Dictionary
