Job description

At Navi, our mission is to make phone and plan shopping less confusing for consumers in the wireless industry. We create content and tools that simplify it. We're a small, fast-moving team that cares deeply about craft, and we've rebuilt how we design, with AI at every step.

About the role

We're looking for a strong designer who is fluent with AI tools and can also code. You're a designer with strong UX fundamentals, a great visual eye, and enough understanding of the engineering side to be a genuine partner to developers. You sit deliberately between design and development, conversant in both, and you eliminate the translation loss between them.

What you'll be doing
  • Designing product experiences end to end, from UX exploration through interactive prototypes, across marketing pages, complex pricing and plan comparisons, and trust-building conversion flows.
  • Designs in Figma and AI coding tools. You explore, iterate on structure, and polish details in Figma. Then it becomes input for AI coding tools. The output of an AI coding tool becomes an interactive testable prototype that doubles as a living spec for the dev team.
  • Directing AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) with precise prompts, skill files, and system context. You are reviewing their output with a critical eye for quality and intent. Knowing when to trust AI output and when to refine by hand is a core competency, not a nice-to-have.
  • Maintaining and evolving the design system: tokens, components, documentation, and the Figma-to-code pipeline — structured so both humans and AI tools can use it reliably.
  • Bridging design and engineering. You help set conventions both sides trust and define where the prototype-to-production line sits. You're comfortable in the vocabulary of both worlds.
  • Untangling complex systems. Our domain is full of conditional logic: pricing that rolls up differently by plan type, device protection messaging that varies by card and context, comparisons across carriers. You model the underlying rules first, then design and build interfaces that make them feel simple.
You should have (and what we mean by it)
  • Strong UX fundamentals. Research-informed judgment, interaction design instincts, information architecture, and the maturity to advocate for users within real constraints. Tool skill does not substitute for this. Plenty of people can prompt an AI into producing an interface; far fewer can tell whether it's the right interface.
  • A great visual eye and attention to detail. Typography, hierarchy, spacing, motion. AI output is 85% right by default; you own the last 15%.
  • Working front-end literacy. You can read React + Tailwind (or a similar stack) well enough to review AI-generated code . You can spot where it diverged from intent, where a token got hardcoded, where the responsive behavior breaks — without needing to write it from scratch. You understand components, states, and accessibility as design concepts that live in code.
  • Design systems depth. You've built or maintained token-based systems and understand what makes them legible to AI tooling: structure, naming, documented decisions.
  • AI-native workflow. AI coding and prototyping tools are already how you work, with sharp judgment about when to rely on output and when to intervene.
  • Systems thinking. You can hold a complex domain in your head — business rules, edge cases, data states — and keep the design coherent across all of it.
  • Experience with telecommunications, comparison platforms, or complex pricing UX
  • Motion and animation in code (CSS animations, Framer Motion)
  • Conversion optimization and trust-building design experience
How we'll interview

Expect a practical exercise close to the real job: we'll give you a small design problem from our domain and ask you to take it from concept to working prototype using your preferred AI tooling. Then walk us through your design decisions, your prompts, and the code. We're evaluating taste, UX judgment, and how you direct AI, all at once.

Tools & stack
  • Figma (components, variables, auto-layout) — exploration canvas and system source
  • AI coding tools: Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
  • Familiarity with React, TypeScript, and Tailwind; comfortable working in a Git-based workflow alongside developers
Why this role
  • Shape how an entire company builds product in the AI era — real ownership, visible impact
The vibe

Small, collaborative team. We move quickly and care deeply about craft. If you're equally at home in Figma and your code editor, let's talk.
