Job summary

PermitFlow is seeking a Principal Product Designer to set the vision and craft for our most complex product surfaces. You will work hands-on to solve high-stakes problems in construction permitting, shaping how automation and AI appear in moonshots and strategic experiences.

You will ensure users understand what the product is doing, trust its outputs, and stay in control of decisions with real financial and regulatory weight, while mentoring teammates and raising the design bar.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing dense B2B software with complex workflows.
• Proven ability to elevate design across teams and define standards.
• Experience designing AI-powered or technical products.

Responsibilities

• Own the design vision for high-impact product areas from problem framing to execution.
• Set strategic direction for permitting workflows, automation, and AI-driven decisions.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape the product roadmap.
• Raise the craft bar and mentor designers.
• Evolve design language and systems as surface area grows.
• Balance deep detail with big-picture direction at high pace.
• Become a construction-permitting expert and build trust in AI outputs.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing on collateral and branding as needed.
