UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Product Designer to shape the Agentic Platform within Enterprise Modernization. In this role, you will design intuitive, trustworthy, and accessible experiences for discovering, configuring, supervising, and measuring AI agents across cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product and Engineering to define end-to-end experiences for agent discovery, onboarding, configuration, deployment, supervision, performance monitoring, and lifecycle management
- Translate platform strategy, user needs, and technical constraints into journey maps, service blueprints, information architecture, interaction models, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs
- Design experiences for multiple personas, including business users, agent builders, developers, platform administrators, risk reviewers, and customer support teams
- Create coherent workflows spanning marketplace, agent studio, runtime controls, observability, policy management, data connections, and administration capabilities
- Define interaction patterns that help users understand an agent’s purpose, capabilities, limitations, data use, permissions, and expected outcomes
- Design human-in-the-loop workflows for review, approval, escalation, intervention, exception handling, and recovery from failed or uncertain agent actions
- Make agent status, reasoning summaries, source attribution, action history, and confidence indicators understandable without unnecessary technical detail
- Collaborate with Responsible AI, Security, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to translate policies and controls into usable product experiences
- Plan and conduct interviews, contextual inquiry, workflow analysis, concept testing, and usability studies with internal users and prospective external customers
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative evidence into experience principles, design requirements, opportunity areas, and prioritized recommendations
- Use prototypes to test complex agentic concepts early, reduce delivery risk, and improve product decisions before engineering investment
- Partner with Product to define experience success measures such as task completion, time to value, comprehension, adoption, error prevention, and user confidence
- Establish reusable patterns for agent cards, permissions, tool and data connections, conversational interfaces, workflow visualization, alerts, approvals, audit history, and analytics
- Extend the enterprise design system with agentic-specific components and guidance while maintaining accessibility, consistency, and brand alignment
- Document interaction standards, responsive behavior, content guidance, edge cases, and component usage to support consistent implementation
- Collaborate with Design System, Content Design, and Front-End Engineering partners to improve component quality and adoption
- Work within agile product teams from discovery through release, providing design specifications, interaction details, prototypes, and implementation guidance
- Partner with technical leaders to balance user value, platform reuse, feasibility, security, performance, and delivery sequencing
- Review implemented experiences for design quality, accessibility, and alignment with intended workflows, and identify gaps before release
- Contribute to roadmap planning, backlog refinement, acceptance criteria, design reviews, and release-readiness decisions
- Present experience strategy, research insights, prototypes, design decisions, and recommendations to senior product, technology, and business stakeholders
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to align teams around user problems, target journeys, design principles, and measurable outcomes
- Mentor designers and help establish practical methods for designing AI-enabled and agentic enterprise experiences
- Advocate for customer-centered design, accessibility, and evidence-based decision-making across the platform organization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, User Experience, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in UX, product design, interaction design, or related disciplines, including significant experience designing complex enterprise software or platforms
- Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design thinking, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and measurable improvement of complex digital experiences
- Experience leading design for multi-persona workflows, administration experiences, developer or platform products, data-intensive applications, or enterprise SaaS solutions
- Advanced proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, including component libraries, design systems, and interactive prototypes
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts, system behavior, and business rules into intuitive workflows and understandable interfaces
- Experience planning and conducting user research and usability testing, synthesizing findings, and using evidence to influence product direction
- Demonstrated understanding of AI/ML and LLM-enabled experiences, including conversational interfaces, agent workflows, automation, transparency, oversight, and failure states
- Proven working knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices, including WCAG and accessible interaction patterns
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate effectively with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Research, Content Design, Security, and Risk teams
