Description

The Sr. Product Designer is responsible for translating complex consumer and business needs into simple and elegant user experiences for industry-leading digital properties. He/she will lead the product design for large and/or complex products or groups, driving collaboration, developing solutions, and making recommendations based on user research and industry best practices. The goal is to translate business strategies into world-class online experiences grounded in consumer truths. In partnership with Product, Strategy, and Engineering, he/she will be progressive, efficient, and highly engaged, providing creative methods of interpreting customer perspectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Create intuitive and elegant product design solutions that solve complex consumer problems and drive business results.
2. Communicate solutions to stakeholders and executives in a manner that simplifies complexity and generates excitement.
3. Participate in user experience research to understand consumer needs, opportunities, and pain points to inform an iterative design process.
4. Collect and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research to inform and validate design decisions.
5. Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, and Developers throughout the discovery, design, and development process.
6. Create visual artifacts (prototypes, wireframes, sketches, journey maps, personas) to articulate, inform, and validate ideas.
7. Create detailed design deliverables utilizing and contributing to the design language system and pattern library.
8. Stay current on tools, principles, and practices in product design, prototyping, and development, and drive continuous improvement.
9. Facilitate organized and productive meetings and brainstorming sessions.
10. Mentor and train junior members of the design team on industry and best practices.
11. Advocate for high standards of excellence in user experiences and support the team in achieving them.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven track record in designing high-quality consumer products (web or mobile) in collaboration with product management and engineering teams.
• Passion for technology and design, with a drive to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
• Persuasive communicator able to explain complex concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
• Good listener, considering input from multiple perspectives.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
• Solid understanding of user-centered design processes, balancing customer needs with business goals.
• Experience with brainstorming techniques and gaining consensus among diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to leverage user research and articulate design decisions clearly.
• Strong product design principles and deliverables, including rapid prototyping, journey maps, detailed flows, and pattern libraries.
• Ability to quickly convert ideas into design artifacts.
• Experience performing design critiques and providing objective feedback.
• Strong critical thinking and analysis skills.
• Ability to train and mentor others in design methodologies and best practices.
• Experience designing and prototyping solutions for native apps and web across various screen sizes.
• Experience with Agile development processes.
• Responsive/adaptive design experience is a plus.
• E-commerce experience is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00/hr.
