Job summary

Intralox seeks a Mechanical Engineer for our New Product Development Team in our New Orleans office. This design-focused role drives product improvements and new solutions to meet customer needs.

You will lead the complete product development process from problem definition to release, including voice of customer studies, specs, prototypes, testing, field feedback, and design refinement, collaborating across teams for successful launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years engineering experience preferred in product development or machine design.

Job description

Intralox is currently seeking a mechanical engineer for our New Product Development Team to work out of our New Orleans office. In this design focused position, you will be responsible for continuously improving our products and developing new ones. You will transform new ideas into solutions that enable our customers to meet their product handling and throughput needs. The product development process includes the specification, concepting, evaluation, and validation of product solutions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical components and systems by applying principles of general physics, mechanics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, vibration, acoustics, and material science in accordance with mechanical engineering standards and design formulas.
• Own the outcome of the entire new product development process from problem definition to product release including:
  • Voice of customer studies
  • Definition of customer performance requirements
  • Development of project scope
  • Creation of engineering specifications
  • Concept brainstorms
  • Design reviews
  • Development of virtual and physical prototypes
  • Prototype evaluation
  • Test plan development and execution
  • Field testing and customer feedback
  • Design refinement
  • Product production and system integration
• Work with teams across the business to ensure successful product launches. Collaborate with in-house patent attorney to file patents for new concepts.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline Recent professional experience in Solid Modeling (SolidWorks, Pro-E, Inventor, or similar software) 7+ years engineering experience (preferred in Product Development, Machine Design, Test Equipment Design, etc.)
