About the Role

In this opportunity as Senior Producer, China, you will:

  • Lead teams covering events of international interest in China starting from the planning phase through to the production phase.
  • Keep abreast of a fast-moving news file in the region.
  • Establish a rapport with colleagues in the bureau across all media.
  • Pro-actively assist in the rollout and training of the latest visuals news gathering and production tools.
  • Inspire staff and contractors across all media to produce their best breaking news and storytelling work.
  • Be customer-focused and pitch story ideas which travel well for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Mentor and train junior members of the team.
  • Ensure all work abides by the Reuters TrustPrinciples.
About You

You’re a fit for the role of Senior Producer, China if your background includes:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in professional journalism in a broadcast or agency environment.
  • Excellent news judgment and a solid track record of working in a breaking news environment.
  • Strong video editing and script writing skills
  • Solid visual story telling skills and English story writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressuretight deadlines, many times unsupervised.
  • Superb planning and prioritization skills.
  • Experience or the desire to work and manage teams in hostile environments.
  • Ability to lead and develop diverse teams.
  • Fluent English andMandarin a must. Any additional Asian language is a bonus.
