Job summary

Semafor is seeking a Senior Producer, Video & Live Journalism to lead interview-led video programming and editorial execution, focusing initially on CEO conversations and global leaders. You will shape livestream strategies, reimagine on-demand content, and drive video across events and gatherings with rigorous journalism standards.

The role blends strategic thinking with hands-on production, including multi-camera shoots, host prep, and precise notes in editing while leveraging audience

Qualifications

• 7 years of newsroom experience with responsibility for video journalism or interview-led programming.
• Exceptional editorial judgment with understanding of business, economics, politics, tech and global affairs.
• Experience working with hosts, reporters, editors or public figures at senior levels.
• Knowledge of YouTube and LinkedIn audience expectations and success metrics.

Responsibilities

• Own interview shows from idea to publication, including editorial development, research, pre-interviews, host prep, rundowns, scripts, production, post-prod, and publishing.
• Identify decisions and moments that yield candid, newsworthy interviews over profiles.
• Develop hosts and on-camera voice, provide feedback during production.
• Lead studio, field, remote, and event shoots with crews, lighting, audio, and vendors.
• Create distribution plans for livestreams and on-demand programming.
• Extend life of events with livestreams, full conversations, backstage pieces, and shorts.
• Direct edits with high creative bar; give notes on story, pacing, visuals, sound, and graphics.
• Build platform-native distribution with titles, thumbnails, and chapters.
• Analyze audience metrics and apply insights to format and distribution.
• Establish repeatable workflows and quality-control standards.
• Protect editorial standards across scripts, interviews, edits, headlines, and promos.
