Job summary

Chicago Housing Authority seeks a Senior Procurement Specialist to train staff on procurement policies, manage bids and complex proposals, and assist the Procurement Manager with special projects. The role requires strong communication, vendor relations, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

The position supports hybrid work arrangements and may involve remote work following a 90‑day probation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years' experience of responsible buying or the equivalent combination of education and related work experience with a minimum of three (3) years procurement experience
• Experience in the public procurement sector is a plus
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with diverse staff and vendors

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate and develop Invitations for bids, complex RFPs and RFQs.
• Conduct procurement outreach activities communicating CHA's procurement process.
• Provide weekly procurement reports and ad hoc reports to management.
• Assist departments to resolve procurement issues and improve communication.
• Educate and train staff on procurement policy and procedures; assist in policy development and training material.
